for the hrap 3...do you need to turn it on with a button or somethin? The writing on the box is all in japanese.

What on earth would stop it from working on a ps2 game? I mean, if the six-axis works on ps2 games, why wouldn't a generic stick?

its the lack of a PS button that keeps these sticks (and adapters) from working. Its stupid, I know. I think Nyko is releasing an adapter soon that has a PS button on it, so you can finally use PS2 controllers on ps2 games in the ps3. Like Guitar Hero.

Its like the dual shock button on the dual shock 2. It turns on analog. The Shadow Blade's "mode" button is the same thing.

Wait though, why are you able to play PS3 games with it but not PS2 games on the PS3 =Q? I'm confused, just want everything to arrive so I can test it lol.

EDIT: Isn't the PS button the top left yellow button on the High Grades? PS, Select, L2, R2 should be those top yellow buttons.

When the PS2 emulation on the PS3 starts, it has to emulate the ps2 controller ports as well, which resets all connected controllers. So you press the PS button to activate the controller. The reason it works on PS3 games is because it does not reset the ports at all when starting the game. Emulation is a very tricky thing, just as Microsoft /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

But you're right, the VSHG has a PS button, so it should work with PS2 BC games. Not sure about the HRAP3, but I would bet it also has a PS button. So perhaps when people are testing to see if these controllers work with PS2 games, they're just not pressing the PS button.

Yeah HRAP3 is good to go. People have even said it's pretty much plug-and-play on PCs too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif Which is nice for some people I guess.

I'll certainly make use of my HRAP3 on PC. I play a lot of emulators, and its real nice to have an arcade stick for playing some of those old arcade games.

Has anybody cracked open a VSHG yet? Is the stick a real Sanwa JLF?

That is simply NOT true! Dummy Account has *CONFIRMED* that the HRAP3 does NOT work on the PC!! Check out *THIS THREAD* over at the Shryuken forums.

Now that's everyone has got their hands on both sticks, which one is better. I think the HRAP 3 is the better value if it works with ps2 and pc. I don't know if I like the buttons layout on hrap 3. Looks uncomfortable, but I haven't played with it so I don't know. Wish I could try it out first before buying.

okay, for anyone who has a VSHG or a HRAP3, can you please test it out on PS2 BC games on your PS3,,, and actually press the PS button when it asks you to and test it out?

sounds like some people have their PS3s for short period of them and didnt realise they have to press the PS button to make the controller\stick activate to play on PS2 BC

    can someone test again?

Re: Virtua Stick High Grade vs Real Arcade Pro Sti

We got two HRAP3s here in our scene yesterday. To me the stick felt a bit loose, but I opened it up and confirmed that it's a sanwa stick inside... maybe just the spring is tuned a bit different or maybe I'm just picky. Buttons looked like standard Hori buttons with quick-tabs, basically exactly the same as the previous HRAP, and easy to replace if that's your thing.

The biggest difference is the button layout, which pretty much forces you to either use a different button layout angle or put your hands closer together than on the previous HRAP. At least, for us... on the previous HRAP/T5 sticks we used the 3 buttons shifted one to the right from the joystick. This time around, those buttons are all the way to the left, and the ones shifted one to the right are at a different angle. Looking at a picture of the two sticks should clarify this change. Not a huge deal, but it will take some getting used to.

I'm not sure about playing ps2 games with it, we haven't tried yet. I'll look into this later today.

Are you talking about the HRAP 1 ? Cause the button layout on the HRAP 3 looks identical to the HRAP 2 . . .

I'm sorry, yes, the HRAP 1 has a different layout. Never used the HRAP 2, and wasn't sure about it. It looks like you are right, the HRAP 2 is the same as the HRAP 3 in button layout (at least, from inspecting a small jpeg).

Our sticks and game came in today and so far there's no problems with the VSHG. Our friend ordered the HRAP3 so we got a chance to test out both, and I think most VF players will prefer the VSHG stick since it feels closer to the arcade. The HRAP3 is still good though, and probably the better stick if you like playing a lot of different fighting games, so you can't go wrong with either stick. The VSHG is a lot heavier btw, and feels more sturdy. The HRAP3 feels more plasticy.

The game is awesome btw. At first I wasn't too impressed with everything, and I thought it was just a small upgrade to FT (which we owned for awhile), but after playing for a few hours, the game is really starting to feel different and unique in it's own way. I'm really impressed now that I've got a chance to take a little bit more in. I'm not used to the new offensive move yet so I can't really comment on that, but it's going to be fun learning it all.

Can anyone with a VSHG open it + confirm whether it has a sanwa stick + buttons?

I opened ours but they make it real hard to get to the stick so I stopped. I will say if it's not sanwa it feels damn close. I have Sanwa sticks and it feels exactly the same pretty much. The buttons feel about the same too. Very High Quality. Owning Sanwa sticks I would say you can't go wrong with the High Grade.

Also we have been playing for 5 hours now and the sticks haven't shown any sign of connection problems yet.

One more thing. Hey I made it in the game!! Woohoo!!

Junosynth, can you tell whether the buttons are soldered onto the PCB, or if they have quick-release switches?
