are you serious. thats pretty fucked up for PS3 owners. so not only does the PS3 lose exclusives but there improved on the 360. thats sucks for PS3 owners. why buy a PS3 version of a game if its just going to be a prototype for the 360.

    sonys fucking up.

SEGA ANNOUNCES ONLINE MULTIPLAYER FUNCTIONALITY IN VIRTUA FIGHTERâ„¢ 5 FOR XBOX 360â„¢

Premier Fighting Game Franchise Goes Online In Europe and North America

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (July 6, 2007) – SEGA® Europe, Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. announced today that the highly-anticipated arcade fighting game, Virtua Fighter™ 5 for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, will feature an online versus mode at launch in Autumn 2007. The Xbox 360™ version of Virtua Fighter™ 5 is based on the latest arcade version update and features both analogue-stick and D-pad control, as well as vibration support. The game also includes an improved Quest mode featuring more CPU rivals, items, and emblems for character customisation. The DOJO mode has added features including leaderboards, training move settings, improved throw and escape training, and the option to change your opponent’s position and recovery type. These all work to create a more refined DOJO mode where players can improve their fighting strategy.

Now featuring an online two-player versus mode via Xbox Live®, Virtua Fighter™ 5 will allow players to compete online. Players will also be able to select one of the 17 characters or customise them in Quest mode. Customisation features allow players to modify their characters by selecting from four base costumes and then attaching a wide range of unlockable and earnable items. Players will not only achieve victory by defeating highly-skilled opponents, but also by competing for prizes and earning in-game money which allows them to buy many items at an in-game shop.

“For a lot of very good reasons, Virtua Fighterâ„¢ 5 is regarded as the deepest and most revered fighting game available on next generation consolesâ€Â, said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe. “Bringing Virtua Fighterâ„¢ 5 to the Xbox 360â„¢ will not only capture an entirely new audience, but will allow gamers to show their Virtua Fighterâ„¢ skills online against friends and foesâ€Â.

Created by the renowned development team AM R&D Department #2 out of Japan, Virtua Fighterâ„¢ 5 will be released in Autumn 2007. For more information, please visit http://www.sega-europe.com. For assets please visit http://www.sega-press.com.

News story on Official Xbox 360 website is here:

Press release is dated for today - not sure how many people it's been sent out to but given I received it a few minutes ago, I expect it will be spreading round like wildfire within the next hour (so please, wait before the lock and ban lol). I'm sure most of you will be sceptical that what I'm posting is true but you will see soon enough, I guess.

Also searched for a Virtua Fighter 5 online thread and didn't find one, so that's why the new thread is here - mods, do with this one as you please but I absolutely promise this is true. So yeah. Virtua Fighter 5 online. Woohoo!

why do i even have a PS3. all the games are going to 360 anyway and their being improved on. fuck you sony. i paid 600 dollars for something that my 360 does better. fuck no sonys screwed. i bet they wont even get a patch.

i shouldve listened when everyone told me sony would fail this go around. i use to think microsoft had a big head thats until sony released the PS3. sony really thinks people will buy there systems no matter how expensive.

im seriously considering selling my PS3. what one game lair. PS3 isnt worth 600 dollars in my opinion. yea its a blue ray player but i bought it cause for gameing. i dont need a damn blue ray player.

oh i know sonys fucking up big time. people might be optimistic for the future of the PS3 but im not. the more the PS3 exclusives lost its bad for sony. the reason being is most of the games are better on 360. not to mention the price of the systems.

In this case, yes it IS Sony´s fault.
Sony demanded an early release for VF5 to pad their anemic Japanese lineup.

That is truly Fucked up... Its the hardware companies, but ist also the software companies and a sign of the changes and that almighty DOLLAR. I guess I'm not that upset becuase I had to come out of pocket for the PS3, I already have the 360 and I am once again looking forward to VF5 Ver. C. I just thought of something and I don't know if someone has mentioned this before, I apologize if so. QUESTION/RIDDLE: If you have a game system that does not sale in Japan and a video game that does not sale in the US, then where do you make your money? As far as lag time I have to believe those perfectionist over at Sega will put out something that comes pretty close to being playable and enjoyable. As far the PS3 being the testing ground for the 360, I think not... Sega is getting the online ready for its true followers in the home and that is the PS3.

So, that's an excuse not to patch the ps3 version..? Your propaganda is quite funny.

The only people who lose are the VF fans... who bought the game early. Sega didn't have to port the game early but they did. It goes to show you how useless Sega are as a company.

Well there is no reason for people to not get the game anymore. Hopefully it sells well this time around.

what i find unsettling about this whole affair:

the creators/programmers of vf were swearing up and down that vf would NEVER go online due to the sheer depth of gameplay that it offered. interview after interview they would constantly give explanations why they wouldn't allow vf to go online. now, a meer few months later, and another release on a new console and they've done a complete 180.

to have ANYONE SAY that this is sony's fault is foolish. sega probably said: "crap... sales in the us have kinda blown because everyone there gets a hard-on for online play even if it isn't the most accurate of gameplay. plus, our programmers have been putting their feet in their mouth because they said that it wasn't going to happen. aight, well we do have another release, so let's see what happens with the american market with online play added."
