could you ellaborate on this comment please? are you saying a wireless 360 controller has noticable lag on this particular game?

i've been playing the demo for several days now using a wireless pad and had no issues....it actually controlls ok with the d-pad contrary to what some other people are saying.

People say that the x360 wired controller has a better d-pad. It is actually made differently then the wireless pad.

Total humbug. The pads are identical except for the wireless technology.

No, they arn't identical. The wireless components inside of the Wireless one don't allow for the right direction on the D-Pad to work very well. The Wired version is different, and the right is not an issue on it like it is with the Wireless.
It's just the issue with the D-Pad. The one for the Wired version is better, without having to mod it. Though whenever I play online games I always opt for the Wired one just to reduce the placebo effect of lag (even though I really do notice a difference in Lost Planet and Halo.) And incase the batteries run out mid match haha.

There was a page where someone opened them both up and showed the insides. I'm pretty sure I saw the link at DOAC.

Yeah long ago during the DoA release I remembered seeing mods people would do to the wireless ones to up the accuracy of the right direction. No idea where those pics are now myself.

Not really. The problem with the D-Pad is that it doesn't have enough place expanding when pressing it quickly into the wanted direction(s). This happens with the wired AND wireless one - no matter what. Modding it is easy, though. You would just have to open your pad and sandpaper the area around the D-Pad.

Lag with the wireless one?! Are you kidding?

The argument that they arn't identical is what I'm saying, and is correct. I've solely touched on the whole right direction difference, not the problem both of them suffer from.

And yeah, I kind of was kidding when I said
Placebo meaning it's in my head, I know. Though many, many good players on Lost Planet swear by the wired controller for the same reason I do.

Any place anymore have the old DOA4 arcade controllers? I feel I need one to play this game already. I am just trying to find if there is anything cheaper than the VF one coming out being a poor college student and all. The game alone is going to be a big hit to my income already, I would like to find something cheaper than spending $120 on the game and controller if possible.

The DOA sticks are out of production and are generally pretty pricey. Ebay would be your best bet.

You won't find a cheaper Xbox 360 arcade stick than the EX2. As Mepaphoros was pointing out correctly the DoA stick had become too rare, and thus is a pricey undertaking.

Alright, I guess I will have to find a deal on the VF5 one. I was hoping to find some cheaper alternative, but I guess not. Thanks for the info though Mepaphoros and Leonard.

I think all of us here at VFDC deserve review copies. Who cares about the game more than we do, right?

The most used controller mod in the doa community is to buy an xbox 1 controller-S controller and a 360 wired pad (wired pads have phillips screws, wireless have torx screws).

The then take the actual Dpad out of the S (and rubber input pad underneath) and swap it with the 360 wired.

they are the same size pretty much. But now you don't have a crap pad.

Kinda feels like the Sega Genesis D-Pad. Add some WD-40 for some slickness if needed.

    How to open wired controller.

Wow, I thought the orange box would be higher with the talk I've heard about it on the street.

    Good news for VF fans.

orange box is going sooner or later going to get more hype, but anyway,it's great for the VF popularity.

    Awesome!

Now Sega needs to get the demo on the content-stricken PS Stores (both US and Europe). The more exposure, the better.

That's great news. It's more played than Half Life and R6 Vegas! If this is anything to go by, once the game is released the community will explode.
