No room numbers yet, but I will post my cell phone # now.

512-750-2910 . We expect to arrive in dallas by 4 or 5pm at the latest. Once we get settled in we'll prolly head to the tourney site to check it out... the hosts will be busy setting it up for the tourney and I think helping out with rides from the airport and etc.

I'm currently trying to set up a gathering friday evening for some games.

PS I got word that a seeding tournament is OK starting at noon... this means everyone must be signed up by noon or chances are you will NOT get a spot.

PSS I'd appreciate help running the round robin seeding since I've little xperience in that area. TTYL

Hey Cosmic,

I'm a little concerned about the whole seeding deal... I'd rather fly to Texas and fight Namflow in the first round than to go and have an incomplete tournament due to time restraints... Sure we've got enough time to run an iron man?

Would it be wrong to seed people based on performances in other tournaments? I mean, what better heuristic on how someone will do at TiT then how well they have done at other tournaments?

I'll volunteer to help you guys run it, I've seen Llanfair run two tournaments and he is the master of such things, so I know how it goes...

Time restraints/seeding issues

Dom assured me we have the whole day to run the tournaments... so as long as we get started promptly at noon with the iron man then we should be ok.

The more consoles we have though, the better, and the faster we can get through round robins. So everyone who can bring evo + TV will be highly appreciated.

PS, the fallback plan here is of course a truely random seeding for the tourney to save time. If people have issue with playing their own friends, we can add in crew separation so that you're guaranteed to fight someone ELSE than your friends on the first round... but that really isn't a big deal since chances are you'll be playing them eventually anyways.

The big weekend is almost here... When is everyone getting to Texas? Rich and I will be arriving Thursday sometime and going on an Evo binge in our (m,h)otel room before the tourney... If anyone wants to join us PM me your # or something (I've got no cell, and don't know if they'll have net access where we are staying) and we'll get some pre-tournament fights on!

Man, things aren't looking good for the peeps in CO. The last few days it's been snowing like crazy, and now all the streets are covered in 4ft. of snow. Without a snow plow coming through this neighborhood, everyone is stuck in their homes. We ain't going anywhere unless the weather clears up, and we can get a plow truck to clear our streets.

God, I hope things start looking up, for me and all the other CO guys who are going, either for Tekken or VF.

 

To anyone who's interested,

I'll be bringing some Japanese VF4 books with me to TiT to sell to people. In LA we have Japanese bookstores, but I know some other people don't have this resource, so I went out today and got some books to bring with me.

I have 2 copies of the Green Book with the DVD, and 2 copies the "VF4 The Complete". Both books are nice, and while the Green Book is more up-to-date and has the DVD, the Complete has tons of useful info, including Minor Counter frame data (the only book I know that has it) and an AWESOME system section. I'm marking up the books just a little for my trouble, on top of the mark-up made by the bookstores, but my prices are still cheaper than what you'd have to pay on E-bay with places like Videogameya.

If you're interested, just PM me or find me at the tournament.

people better show up to this. If this turns out lame I never want to hear another U.S. VF player bitch how the scene never gets respect. We finally have a chance to show that the VF scene is something to take notice of and it seems some people are pulling out. I just hope this is not another"what could have been" type scenario.

It's not like the Colorado players can really do much to attend. In some places over there, it's reaching seven feet of snow. The airport has been shut down, and police in some of the cities are ticketing motorists who are driving around without a good reason, IE non emergency travel.

It's the worst blizzard for 20 years over there. Really bad timing, if what I'm reading in the paper is true, the CO people will not be able to make it. Hopefully the tournament will still be fun and a good experience for all.

 

The good thing is it's over now and the sun is out.. And I live only 3 miles to I-25. If I can make it to 25 i'll be ok. Come on MR. Plow!!!

I hope your not referring to the people of CO. You can come up here and help shovel the 4-7 feet of snow in our streets so we can go if you think we are making excuses not to go.

 

Flying in and gathering info

For those that are flying into DFW airport or Love Field, I'm pretty sure there will be shuttle service to nearby hotels. If not, post up on here or send Dom a PM here and on tekkenzaibatsu if you need a ride. I won't be getting into town until 5 and probably won't be able to help out with rides until 7.

There is a tentative gathering in the works, but of course there may be issues of space. Will post up again when I get the details.

My cell is posted up if anyone needs info before or after they arrive.

EDIT-- Just realized, I forgot to post up the winning % payouts.. I'll be using the same format as the rest of the games, with 60/30/10 for 1st 2nd and 3rd.

Good news. A neighbor with a huge 4x4 started making little roads to everyones homes in our cul-de-sac, so now we just got to shovel to his path and we'll be all set. Looks like I'll be shovelling all day today, and hopefully head off tonight.

So looks like CO will be there.
