    errm....IMS? What's that?

#1. Make sure you have enough $$$ for your PS2 Evo and everything. Also, consider maybe wanting to attend another gathering in the future and saving for that. I wouldn't want you to be hindering your VF progress with this bet.

    #2. No playing Dural!

#3. We'll give you guys plenty of time to reconsider between now and TiT. You'll be allowed practice matches, if you like, for another chance to reconsider once were all in Texas.

    That is all...

Hey, I think he meant you imf!! lol. But hey, the practice rounds could consist of playing me. lol. Then they can determine to bet or not. lol. Kidding.

I dont play for money, but you can play me for bragging rights. Im too poor to lost 150 bucks. Cause when You gamble. You should always assume you will lose

Ummm, it's a $150 bet. It ain't making or breaking any of us. I wouldn't of made it if I was planning on backing out.

Nope, no practice matches needed for you guys. Remember, I've seen you guys play with your Jeffery and Akira and Jacky, yet you have no idea where I'm coming from. If anyone needs practice, it's you guys.

And I agree, no Dural. I don't even know how to unlock her, let alone play her.

Jedi_Fei: That's cool, I don't blame someone for not betting. Some people like to bet, and some don't. I'll let you play Junosynth anyway for bragging rights.

I "should" have some vacation time by March, so there's a good chance that I'll be there. I could end up using any character, depending on the situation. /versus/images/icons/smirk.gif

Dre, use any one of your high king/emperor/96% characters! Which... I think... is all of them! lol.

Ok modest, you got me =). I'll play you for $100 dollars, first to 5 wins. But, I don't like betting at all. So, the winner of the $$$ has to take everyone out to dinner that night and spend it all. That is the only way I can feel good about winning this $$$, later.

    Psssst....
Shhhhh with all the money talk. Big Boy might hear you. Shit. I think he heard you. Damn. Okay look, in all fairness I think it's a good time to offer you all the option of sending your cashier's checks or money orders direct to him now C/O The Get Big Boy's Nuts Out Your Mother's Mouth So She Can Cook Christmas Dinner Foundation...No matter how high the rates get, postage (& handling) is still cheaper than gas...the money you save can go towards that high protein smoothie training regimen you've been considering.

Alright Blonde_One, but there's 4 to 5 in my VF4 group so I hope $100 is enough for my crew and yours to eat off of.....regardless of who wins.

But we'll have dinner and a beer afterwards if you still want to. Just don't make me regret agreeing to this by backing out if you win. Cause I sure as hell give you my word I would never do such a thing.

    Tournament questions?

Out of curiosity, are there any more details about the tournament?

How much will it cost to enter? Double elimination? 3/5 rounds per match? 2/3 matches per set? (or whatever you'd call it)
Is this going to be in a hotel or an arcade or what? Will you be allowed to set your controller up before the match (if it's going to be Evo, most people may not have ps2 memory cards with custom characters saved on them)... Will there be prizes only for first place, or for other places as well? As of now Cosmic Forge, how many people for VF are you expecting to show up?

Also, I don't see any reason why character changing shouldn't be allowed - if you advance to the next round above someone else in the tournament it should be because you can beat any character they choose with whatever character you choose. If you can't do this, do you really deserve to advance?

Just some random thoughts... Rich and I are considering going, but can't say for sure right now... Would also want to get some more Evo practice so we wouldn't get completely schooled by everyone there...

I thought I was on TZ for a minute there. /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif I plan on attending if VF and players will definitely be there.

It seems that most of the Socal group is going. I just wanted to ask one favor for the tournament. Can we please be seperated in the brackets so that we would not face each other till later on. E3 2002 gathering was good but I really only played against the people I always play against.
Also my vote goes for 1 character only... I believe thats how they do it in Japan. Why mess with success. I also recommend someone contacting some gaming publications and websites...maybe even SEGA themselves so that we can get some word of mouth than just this message board and some pretty descent prizes. That is all thx for reading.

    Re: Character swapping

I second the seeding idea. Who wants to play their friends and hometown buddies early in the match when there's plenty of other players from different city's to be matched up against?

That's $150 to $200 you guys will be taking away from us....if you're good enough.

No offense to the CO boys or anything, but imo, this is like taking candy from a baby.

Yes, I too would love to have Regional seeding. Nothing like travelling all that time to play against Blonde one in the first round of the tourney up in nyg3. lol.

I enjoy a good Round Robin style Tourney. That way it doesn't matter who plays who and when. We all play each other the same amount of times and the best guy has the most wins.

    Re: player tally

I'm keen on a round robin too, right up to the point where it becomes logistically impossible. How many commitments do we have so far? My crew numbers a solid 5 as of this writing.

    Re: player tally

Ok I'll try to answer as many questions as possible...

No details on location yet... it could be anything from a reserved hotel "office" room or a party room somewhere like a bowling alley, etc. Remember this tourney was only announced a couple weeks back and is still being fleshed out.

Rounds/matches will be like I posted before, 3 out of 5 rounds, 2 out of 3 matches, double elimination.... and yes I am very in favor of splitting people up from their regions so they won't face each other initially. Nothing sux more than facing your own crew right off the bat. We'll draw up a list of crews before drawing bracketsto make sure of that. As for controls... you can set them up however you want as long as you aren't using "macros" so to speak. Unlike the Tekken tourneys where they expect you to disable the shoulder buttons, feel free to enable them for this tourney. IMO, pressing L1 for P+K+G really isn't gonna give anyone a major advantage in VF4, heh.

As for total entrants so far... I've estimated roughly about 40, most of which are you guys here. There's about 4 or 5 here in Austin that will be going, but the rest are unannounced. If you would like a more official count, feel free to email me at cosmic_forge@hotmail.com and lemme know who you are (VFDC alias) and how many will be coming with you. I would suggest one person from each crew for emails so I don't doublecount.

Also I will be looking into hotel stays near the tourney location (once it is announced at TZ) and see about getting group rate discounts for everyone. Give some time on that though.

I would also love to hold a "team" or "crew" tourney of some kind, but I think time constraints would limit that possibility.

    Hope that helps...
