That's all pretty awesome. I don't know if those vids got a proper shout on the front page of VFDC when they were done but honestly I think what SRK is doing right now is pretty dope.

Sticking just about everything and anything SF related on the front page. Now we know VF doesn't have a lot going on especially with us on Version C. What can be done is things like featuring community members and the like.

Man, remember the VF4 promotional ads?

The "A true master waits" ones.
    They were so good.
And so was VF4 intro, such a kick-ass intro it got you pumping.

I'd try to instil that sense of hardcore into my SF buddies.

    IF VF5FS came to console.

Could we possibly use this to catch the attention of Sega or someone affiliated with the company? A petition for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on Nintendo 3DS has over 10,000 signatures. Let's see if we can try to get all those signatures again like we did with that VF5:R 500 page petition.

okay here's my attempt at a petition, this is what i have so far as of this typing:

ALSO, can i add u guys as a community who are "helping to create and support this petition"? and add ur web site URL as well.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is a massive update to the latest game in the VF series, Virtua Fighter 5. Virtua Fighter had last seen a home release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in 2007 with the fifth installment and has not been given any of the major updated revisions only seen in Japanese arcades. Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown contains much new content but is not limited to:

-2 new additions to the fighting roster including Taka-Arashi who has not been in a VF game since Virtua Fighter 3 as well as a new original character named Jean Kujo.

-Revised; updated fighting arenas with one new one (A large sumo ring) for Taka-Arashi.

-The ability to play music from past installments of VF games.

-Multiple new outfits including swimsuits for each of the characters with each outfit being able to be fully customized.

-Tons of new and revised moves for each of the 20+ characters.

-Tons of new customizing items for each fighter.

We already did the petition thing, Def. It got into the right hands and everything! I love Sega... don't you? lmao

I think diving right into a discussion of VF's finer points is going to turn off a lot of people. I mean, new players already dismiss the game based on its aesthetics. If they're just getting past that aspect then a detailed explanation of something like frame-specific situations and option select defense seems like it might not be all that encouraging. The tutorials that came out with VF5 that people did on youtube and the wiki etc. are amazing stuff for intermediate level players, however.

The deficiency comes when we try to draw in new people, since VF players get a bad rap for sometimes insinuating their game is better or whatever. Or that we don't actually exist hahaha. A measured and 'objective' approach to comparing the games might be a more productive way to approach it -- show them the games' similarities while introducing what makes VF distinct from other games, etc. Just a thought, anyways.

All fighting games are born equal.

But VF is more equal than the others.

Yeah, it clearly displays higher levels of equality. You can't argue with science!

Just had a wee idea. Is anyone interested in putting together a "best of FS" collection of matches? I was thinking maybe 5 matches for each character showcasing them being played at a high level.

Or even just a collection of matches which would be entertaining to those who don't really play VF or know to much about it? Just to show people what's coming up next year?

I got Monday off work so I could do a couple things VF related so I'm gonna start watching and compiling videos of good matches. It really will just end up a list of links though but I know people out there will be going "Oh, I like the look of (insert character)!" Then google them or youtube them and maybe walk away unimpressed.

My initial idea was 5 videos per character and a list of notable players who use these characters. Just so people know who do look for.

I don't really want to encourage a lot of Japanese player dick riding that will undoubtedly increase (we have it already to some degree) but at the same time it'd be good to let people know who's who. Even spreading the videos, audio files and what not of well known players giving props to VF (Gamerbee, Ryan Hart..etc) would help put it in the face of the general fighting game public.

Oh! And the video of Bunbunmaru back in the day which storied the VF scene back then. So people know a bit of its history. I loved that one, and the one with the guy Akira was based on.

Even those really daft music videos on youtube are worth throwing out there. I have a bunch of them on my channel (Just search for Seid0n)

Akira is based on a person? O_O

I like the idea of say 5 matches per char that show off FS, unfortunately I haven't watched pretty much any FS vids cause I didn't want to get my hopes up.

I actually like this idea quite a bit. If you could get it posted on the front page of SRK (perhaps in daily installments or something) that would also be good for promotion. Keits and co. are usually pretty keen on posting highlight videos.

Also, I think one thing that could go a long way toward building hype for FS is to try to dispel the notion that VF is "too hard" for most people. I'd say VF is a lot more accessible than most seem to think, especially with recent installments being made more beginner-friendly. People will probably warm to VF more easily if they feel they can jump in without much difficulty.

This is also a good argument for improving on VF4E's training mode. :p

Trust and believe know some good vf videos to post. the action packed ones at that. ITs not that the japanes people are being Dickrode.. but people loves a winner. Keep in mind this year SSF4AE winder is a VF5R,FS god. He alone can bring VF to the front with ITabashi who is a Zangief God in his own right. People Follow winners.

Yeah, SDS has a good point. Name recognition can be a factor in getting people to watch the vids, and Fuudo's name is at the top of the heap right now. Videos of him and Itabashi, in addition to footage of any other well-known SF players, would be great to feature.
