VF and or SC right now are the only things that would get me coming back to the FGC.

What indications, if any, are there that this (VF5:FS) is even being considered for a home release?

That's pretty cool. Maybe that's the reason I'm seeing so many new (to me?) players online (playing VF).

I'm thinking of creating some tutorial Videos to help out newcomers. I think that would be one way to get new people to play. If they can understand what is going on then that will play a large part in raising their interest level....which in the end...will equal more competition cause the community to grow...

I would definitely attend any events that are near my area...and even a few that are far away...I like to travel anyways..

I will buy the game, that's all. No more should be expected. Any promotion, advertisement etc is Segas job.

You should play it too. Even if it's a small thing playing the game online will help the community to grow up.

I think it's more than fair that we require SEGA to give us the game before we consider ANY of the community stuff that will come later, based totally on what actually SEGA does.

If SEGA isn't willing to release the console version so the West can actually play, I don't think they deserve much, if any, of our attention for now.

All I know is there is nothing I can do if the game isn't made. At this point, I can only play and enjoy Virtua Fighter 5. If VF5FS comes home, I'll do all I can to help it sell. Word if mouth, tourneys, online play... whatever I can.

WORD!! I agree...Doesn't Sega read these forums?? Don't they see that they already have a strong community behind them ready to give full support??

But yet they would rather invest there time into games like Alpha Protocol that was a sure flop from the beginning

It's like "come on already!" Fighting games are making a comeback...

Well this doesn't apply to me. I played all VF's. Each time Virtua Fighter made a new game they add something different to it. Unlike the competition franchise Tekken. Tekken is to focus on that Mishima Zaibatsu, or the Mishima family. After 6 games it gets to be annoying. I am going to miss Virtua Fighter. VF focused on the fighting not family problems.

    Dural is Kage-Maru's mother

Pai and Lau are father and daughter who never got along until Pai helped fight off Lei Fei when he tried to kill La u and steal the secrets of Koen Ken

Jacky and Sarah are brother and sister, Sarah became an amnesiac after she was taken by J6 and forgot about her brother. Hell, one of Jacky's win quotes were "I'm just waiting for my sister"

Just because the VF story is rarely touched upon doesn't mean it's not built around family problems for the most part.

It's just that VF doesn't have one or two characters that the entire story is built around and the rest just kinda pad it out. Except maybe Jeff, his story is crazy.

No and No. I don't think they really listen to their fans in Japan. They try their best to ignore everyone else.

then why stop playing it? there are a lot of things you can do: improve your main character, learn a new one, get Hazzerowned, participate in Shoutbox Shakedowns, go to offline gatherings/tournies, etc. Have you played offline VF for 4 days straight with very little sleep ([IMG] @ NYG)? I for one am planning to go to Plague's next year if he's doing another gathering. I don't care if I'm the only one showing up, I'm still going.

I respect what you're trying to do to help the community grow and i'd be down to do what I could. But what I quoted from your post I don't agree with.

While i'd rather play against folks offline vs online any day, saying that if one only plays online they don't contribute anything to the community is wrong. Or that there'd be no point in releasing FS.

I'm in Minnesota, having gatherings and tournaments in California, Texas etc. doesn't help me at all if I have to leave my state or go half way across it just to play against some people. If VF didn't have online or people playing online ida never stuck with it. I personally need folks to play online to keep me interested in the game. The 10-20 people that still play online is what makes me still play VF.

Most (me for sure) of us newbies that have turned into decent, good, better, improved (whatever you wanna call it) players did it by (not counting Dojo,Quest) only playing VS Mode online. Having a big pool of players online would do more for the community than gatherings imo. It's online where you meet most/dang near all of the people that play VF. So by simply playing online, one is doing a lot for the community by that alone.

Like I said, i'd rather play offline too. If there were 10 people in my city or near me that played and liked VF like I do, you'd hardly see me online. I mean shit I like the moves and stuff to come out as I do them too lol, without no delay, lag spikes n other bs. So i'm not knockin anyone who doesn't play online because they have a good offline community or because there's an updated/new VF in another country, cause they're scared of me [IMG] or for whatever reasons.

Having lots of people playing online all the time or every once in a while would be a HUGE help to the VF community imo. If Homestay, Fuddo and all them other cats came to the US and started playing online, mad people would come crawling back out from under the rocks wich would = a lot more people playing online thus helping people that are just getting into VF by having a healthy amount of opponents to play.

I love VF but sometimes I get so upset when I turn the game on and nobody is playing. I don't wanna say "upset" but my morale for the game gets pretty dam drained as I sit and wait, and wait, and wait for someone to join. Or when I click "Find Match" in ranked and player only to be met with "No Matches Found". Then having to settle with laggy opponents cause hardly no one is playing online anymore.

The only reason (imo) the numbers dwindled down for VF5 Online is cause of the release of R in Japan. So folks stopped playing on some rebellious type stuff and others followed.

Offline is better than Online...I play with more people offline than online...just for the simple fact that some strategies don't do well online due to Lag and other issues...When playing offline...you can see each character shine more so because more fighting options are available...

I stopped because I know there is another version and new characters. I stopped play because I have all the customizations already.
