VF4:EVO makes #18 on the list.

Sega is fucking stupid for not releasing VF5R with the same training mode and quest A.I. as VF4:EVO.

Sega was fucking stupid for not releasing VF5 Vanilla with the same training mode and quest A.I. as VF4:EVO. No doubt it helps the accessibility factor, not to mention the game can seem pretty shallow on the surface if a tutorial doesn't explain some of the gameplay nuances to a new player. I didn't really appreciate the VF series until I picked up EVO.

Honestly, I don't think the "R" is going to sell the game alone and I'm pretty sure Sega would pass it up. I don't really care as long as Virtua Fighter keeps progressing. VF5R port be damned, it would suck if Sega axed the series, which might be tempting with the sales. If 6 comes out, 5R is obsolete anyway... you can skip a few steps. The good news is that most likely, if VF dies, VF5R might be released in a neat package as a last hurrah. [IMG]

    Its my understanding that
Yu Suzuki did say that VF5 would be the last VF.

I personally don't believe that. I think the game is money in the bank. (Small money, but money nonetheless)

So although Yu Suzuki predicted lights out at version 5 I think we have'nt heard the last of VF on the consoles

Sega knows we want R. They also don't give a fuck. End of.

    "Sigh"

I get depressed when I come here. Always hoping for good news, but keep getting bad news reinforcements.

I wish Sega was Capcom. Capcom will bleed the living S### out of their series. They make sure you play them, and in many different ways, many different consoles, even PC at times. They make sure they try to attract as many people as possible with a plethora of tactics, most of which we've argued to death here already, while at the same time, attracting the hardcore crowd and some of their games are still played heavily 10, 15, almost 20 years later. I'm sitting here listening to Super Street Fighter IV tidbits. there were no question it would come out. There adding 8 maybe 10 characters. Improved online experience. tweaked character balance, additional ultras and maybe supers. added stages, and maybe music. all to come out about a year and a quarter from the original release. I see the effort they make to try to get TvC released in the US. To fight to get around legal trademark issues, added characters to the console version and all that. They've listen to fans request for MvC2 release. They listen to fans wishes and at least talked about maybe a darkstalkers release, or alpha3 or even SFIII. None confirmed yet, but at least their PR guy responds to fans and attempt to explain why they may do it, or why it may not be possible to do it. They've even responded to fans request for a PS2 rerelease of MvC2, saying it probably isn't financially feasible due to many hurdles. Even SSFIV non arcade release decision seemed to be possibly reversed after fan outcry. It is quite frankly a 180° shift in the way they do business.

Sega it seems just doesn't get it. I've literally been dying to play VF5R. If Yu Suzuki is planning on retiring VF after 5, I then wish they sell the rights to Virtua Fighter to a company that will not let this gem die.

By the way, imagine this prospect, VF3 came out for dreamcast, VF4 and evo came out for PS2, VF5 came out for 360/PS3, It sure would suck if VF6 doesn't come out till the next generation. Considering this gen will be longer than last gen, and next gen consoles will probably not arrive until 2012 at the earliest. That would be a stab in my heart.
