This is just Sega being dumb as usual.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom was built on a Wii based arcade board and was a simple port to the Wii. Tekken 6 BR is built on a PS3 based arcade board so porting it to the PS3 was simple as hell for Namco, the only problems arose when they moved the game to the 360, a version that was harder to port and is going to be graphically inferior because of the system limitations of the 360. Sega wasn't smart enough to realize that putting the game on a PS3 based arcade board would have been a good idea allowing for easy ports.

But even now if the Lindbergh wasn't very simple to port to the PS3 and 360 they've already done it before with VF5 so updating the existing code to 5R shouldn't be a real problem.

    E3...

SuperPanda, you're right, we probably shouldn't have used the word "code" but rather "concept". Most mechanics and ideas present in VF5 already existed in other VFs, that speeds up the development process quite a bit in the early stages since they don't have to brainstorm characters, think of the moves, mechanics, art style and several other aspects that compose a game. Sure it doesn't make development "cheap" but it helps making it "cheaper" than it would be to develop a whole new game/franchise.

Then as you said R is even cheaper, since most of the code is already there.

And the rest, as they say, is history. Hehe..

i just got excellent'ed by masterpo. well played.

hey, i want to be an optimist about it; i wanna hear that R is getting ported at E3 as much as the rest of us. i just think that realistically there's a slim chance of it happening.

of course, i hope i'm wrong about that.

No harm meant, but on the other hand there was a person with the
screen name quash on Metal Gear a few weeks back that got me with a few head shots /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I wasn't sure if it was U or not. My screen name in Metal Gear
is Tiger_Near[/size] So if U play Metal Gear and are looking for an
easy target, I'm easy to find /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

You'll get a response but it will be the same vague and annoyingly indirect one that everyone else has gotten back so far.

This wouldn't be so bad waiting for 5R if every other fighting wasn't coming out this year, constantly reminding us that VF is the only series not getting ported, or released on consoles.
    Metal Gear Online 2?

I play hours of that every week. People in SRK are fanatical about that game. I can't believe how many people are into it online.

Pass the time until 5R (hopefully!).

Master poo, whats your MGO name? I play that thing religiously . Screen name is Snake.e.y.e.z. level 7 CQ EX master(gotta love that throw reversal). I play that and Socom non stop, when IM not on VF5 Online. People play MGO because its deep and it takes skill, theres no noobish regenrative health, which I feel marginalized and cheapened Most modern Shooters, most tragically Rainbow six, which at one time was the most realistic FPS out there. Sigh , they sold out and took the Halo route.

But yeah people play MGO because of the complexity , and the learning curve, like VF. So for VFDC , MGO 's popularity shouldn't be hard too understand .

My take on VF5R for consoles is it will be DLC for 360, a full downloadable game for PS3 , and they are waiting till TGS 09 to announce it. Namco said they are making a unique Online mod for Tekken 6 in addition to the vs mod . Smart money say Sega waits to see what new mode Namco comes up with, then apes it in VF5R for consoles , in their continuing competition of one- upmanship with their old rival. In the mean time, Im seriously considering a trip to tokyo to check out VF5R firsthand.

Re: Submit your desire for VF5R outside of Japan..

MGO screen name is Tiger_Near and my clan is Appleseed

I'm very very low level (only 3). I'm a very defensive player. I play more of combat support for the real superstars of MGO. I'll watch your back, cover the ladder, flank the sniper, plant the explosives, and lay down the playboys /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif I do have my assault weapon at Level 3 though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif My primary MGO goal is to stay alive /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif I have a stay alive ratio of about 1-to-2 with about 4 consecutive survivals. Right now I tend to do TDM and Base missions, but once I get to be at least mediocre at all of the different MGO game modes, I'm going to expand Appleseed and then give the superstars of MGO a real run-4-the-money /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I think UR close of the VF5R thing, we'll eventually get it, the question is how soon.... I'm sure that VF5R for the consoles will include online for the PS3 which means I'll have the pleasure of loosing to my VFDC comrades /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Sorry OT, but dude I was lvl 3 for months, because the net gave me conflicting in formation. They said killing high levels or players on your same level raises your level . Actually that only semi true, kills have very little to do with leveling up. You level up by playing all game modes and being on the winning team alot. So if youre a defensive player you can still level up, rapidly in fact.

They should release R with a price tag of $99.99 and then lower the price after a month. I would totally pay it and I think a lot of VF fans would too. Really for me the 59.99 price tag for the 360 version is like the bargain of the century considering how many hours of gameplay I have gotten out of the game.

Maybe that would make the cost of conversion worthwhile.

actually, the smarter thing would be to sell it for $20 brand new.

sega did that in the US with their football game in 2004. that year the xbox version of nfl2k5 outsold the xbox version of madden, and the ps2 version of 2k5 more or less broke even with the ps2 version of madden.

release VF5R for $20 around the same time T6BR is released for $60? you're guaranteed to get the interest of at least SOME of the people buying T6BR.

They did that with Evo and it did not exactly break sales records and that was when ps2 was the only game in town.

Re: Submit your desire for VF5R outside of Japan..

things are different now though. 2009 is "the year of the fighter", vf5r is aesthetically appealing on many of the same levels tekken is, and if it was sold for $20 i think it would sell pretty well.

probably wouldn't outsell sf4 or tekken 6, but maybe blazblue and kof12.

$20 for a downloadable VFR (scratch the 5 for marketing reasons) would be awesome...

I think it would depend on how much it would cost for Sega to manufacture, the cheaper it is to make, the cheaper they can sell it for. But they still would have to make more then they spent.

I wonder, how much does the average game cost to make? (like, per unit?)
