First off you need to link the correct information. Which would be...

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2000-603

(note that it never was debated in senate)

Secondly please read This and understand that if in fact the Democrats were against it, as you seem to be "spewing", then it would have NEVER became a law.

Finally, you can call my info bullshit all day. I will let the horse speak for me on this one.

Yeah, that's my bad, for some reason I thought the CFMA had been attached to the funding bill before it was debated earlier in the year.

So the actual timeline is more like

june - house & senate pass their versions of the funding bill, along strictly partisan lines

october 1 - federal fiscal year begins

    december 14 - 4 republicans & 1 democrat introduce cmfa in house

    december 15 - 4 republicans & 2 democrats introduce cmfa in senate

december 15 - consolidated funding bill including cfma passes along bipartisan lines

    december 21 - clinton signs

So just to be clear, you're saying that if you were in Clinton's shoes, nearly 2 months after the fiscal year had already started, you would veto the funding bill because of phil gramm & co's hijinks ? How is this shit entirely Clinton's fault ? Like I said before, both parties are guilty as hell on this kind of thing.

As far as I can tell from

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/bill-clinton-do.html

your horse wasn't talking about the CFMA, he was talking about the gramm-leach-bliley act and the repeal of the uptick rule (when he wasnt covering his ass, as one would expect from a politician).

    Obama/Biden 2 - McCain/Palin 0

I must say, Palin didn't do as bad as many people expected her to do. But considering that she didn't really do too well with her interviews with Katie Couric, for her, people set the bar low. She did well enough to save face and Republicans are happy for that since many of them were getting worried. However, Biden was the clear winner in this debate. He didn't try to skirt around some of the questions like Palin did at times.

I had an argument w/ a bud earlier

Administration costs won't go down unless the claims process is eliminated in large part. We spent over $2 trillion on healthcare last year, and the average claim was for $77. Studies show that 30% of the healthcare dollar is spent on administration...and most of that is in network claims adjudication, re-pricing, and contracting.

If buyers and sellers knew the prices ahead of the transaction, and, with higher deductibles (94% of families won't reach a $5000 deductible in any given plan year), most transactions were between the buyer and the seller without reference to a third party for pricing, administrative costs could drop to the 5%-6% range.

This requires transparency, free market competition, and the end of the network model of pricing...which, while artificially decreasing some unit prices, has dramatically increased administrative costs. In addition, network pricing has removed all incentive except volume from the vendor side of the equation, and this does not lead to efforts to improve quality, service, convenience, or value.

The very best thing we could do for healthcare is to eliminate networks and move to markets for pricing.

Sounds like you might like McCain's healthcare proposal. He's talking about giving families (not individuals) $5000 but one of the problems with his plan is that he plans to tax that money and what each family will prob end up with is more like $3000.

I don't know what it's like in all the countries with universal healthcare but the few foreigners I've spoken to seem to like it.

Hey all you U.K. fellows, how's your healthcare system? I'm curious...
