I hate SEGA for many reasons, and wish I had R, but VF is the only game in town. I'm not playing Tikken or DOA or SC. Those games are not in the same league.

There's no guarantee that R is a better game. I mean everyone seems to assume it is but it might not be. All we can say for certain is that it is different.

    I SAY:

Check out the Magic Hour Thread on XBOX Live and try and make that work.
That way at least one day a week you can be sure to play different people.
Dead game or not. I know that for my UT game we always schedule times to play
and that way we keep the game alive.

I think it's pretty safe to say it's better.

    It's like developed titties.

You mean how 5 is not as good as the previous games?

No one was reserved about that, practically everyone that started playing before 5 admitted they preferred the older games (especially 4, EVO and FT).

vanilla 5 is much better than any fighting game in the market at this time .I don't think that will change with Tekken6 .

Vanilla 5 is as far from being a bad game as being the best in the series .Yet it the best Current Gen fighting game so far .

Vf is not dying. This scene has always persevered. I have been out of it for years, and I come back and this site is right where I left it. Same people who were on here before.

IMO if Sega wants to port R to console, they should outsource the dev work to another company. Similar to what Genki did with TB. I am sure in this day in age; we can get an acceptable port of the game. Even if it is from another studio.

I'd rather have AM2 handle the port and make it like VF4:EVO.

Comprehensive training and tutorial mode, arcade perfect port, VF10th anniversary special game, full BGM and SFX player in the game, and of course the incredibly deep and robust Quest Mode.

These things only really Sega and AM2 can provide. I don't expect an outsource company to be able to create an acceptable training mode or develop realistic and credible Quest Mode A.I. on their own.

Another thing is to look at how games like SF:AE and HDR were made, in that they included two games in one, or different character variations in one game. Imagine if VF5:FT for the PS3 and 360 (should it ever come out) was also bundled with an option to start the game up in VF5, VF5R, or VF5FT mode. This is how I thought that VF4:EVO was originally going to be bundled so you could choose to play VF4 or EVO from the disc but it turned out to be a complete standalone.

VF will never die. Only it's fanbase will, and even then it can be ressurected. It can only happen the way I know how...

And when it becomes unprofitable, it gets axed.

I think outsourcing might be the only way 5R would ever be considered at this point. Asking for a EVO type port with 5R is an unreasonable expectation. I would take it bare bones just as long as I have it. Just like TB, the game wasn't very pretty, but at least I have it.

I'd be happy even if they released a straight arcade port without anything even resembling an extra mode.

    *shrugs*

Personally, I think a lot of you were spoiled by having VF:eek:nline.

From VF1 to VF4, you always had to travel to find comp, unless you were lucky enough to live in a densely populated area with a VF machine nearby. But that was the exception, not the rule. VF having some of the most expensive boards at any time contributed to its lack of distribution.

VF's always been a niche game. It's either you "got" it or you didn't.

I'm sure if Sega were in better financial waters, like they were before, we would be seeing VF5R. Unfortunately, both the market and the industry have changed, and Sega is no longer the powerhouse they once were. In fact, one can compare Sega to Capcom pre-SF4: trying to make money from other games to lift themselves up, because obviously and unfortunately, VF is no longer doing that for them.

I pray their RPG's and Bayonetta sell very well. Otherwise I fear we won't be seeing another VF game for several years.

(What was the gap between SF3 and SF4? 10 years?)

Who was it on this board that mentioned Sega were pondering overhauling the game completely? If that's true, I wouldn't be surprised. Look at the comments on the IGN article. I couldn't give a rat's ass about what their "editors" think, but the reactions that players gave were pretty unforgiving.

Those players are scrubs plain and simple. Anyone who complains about VF being boring or not containing as good a system or better mechanics than any other fighter on the market is a scrub. If anyone actually understood VF and other fighters on a comparable level then they would know that VF is the king of deep and balanced gameplay. The one saving grace of Sega and AM2 is that the VF series is always the most hardcore, deep, and rewarding fighting game series. Saying VF doesn't have fireballs or kangaroos is fine but when people say it's not as good because of its system is laughable. Thankfully Sega rarely appeals to scrubs and keeps the mid to high level play of VF as hardcore as possible.

Look at this quote from Blizzard's Starcraft 2 developer Dustin Browder:

"We want players making smart decisions all the time and we want a lot of skill required to play this game at the highest levels. We absolutely want the best players to be the best players. We're not looking to even out or flatten the skill curve so that "everybody can be a winner." This is not the first grade. We want this to be tennis, baseball, football, whatever, we want this to be a game that requires real skill".

You can apply that quote to VF more than any other fighting game in my opinion. God damn you Sega bring us VF5R!
