I LOVE VF tourney in NY?!

Vith, just keep on checking this thread for the hotel information. The nyc guys are still working on it.

 

Hey Vith_Dos, welcome to VFDC. The hotel situation is still being worked on as Stomp said but in the meantime how about u going to a gathering? Where in Jersey are u? I also live close to NYC (Union Twp, near Newark) . In fact I'm heading out to Chinatown Fair later this evening. There are weekly gatherings in my and my friend's house. You're welcome to join us. Update...

Hotel Rooms: FUK. I am calling all over the city and areas around the city, but either hotels are sold out of rooms with 2 beds or the prices are about $132 - $140 per night (taxes included)! I think that is quite expensive; even if there are 4 people per room, for 3 nights, the total hotel fee comes out to about $99.50 - $111 per person.

One particular hotel - Holiday Inn Express - is located on the outskirts of Manhattan (in Queens) but getting to and from the city would be a breeze (15-20 minutes each way via subway, which is close by and very inexpensive).

Another hotel - Pan American Hotel - is cheaper (about $99.50 per person for 3 nights), but it is a bit further from Manhattan, but Subway and bus service is a couple of blocks away and is, of course, very inexpensive.

I'm still searching and trying to negotiate better rates, but the aforementioned hotels are the best value in terms of price and the amenities they offer.

Please let me know what you think. I will have to get back to them today and will reserve a block of 6 double-bedded rooms at one of the properties.

OH Group: Since we are leaving on Friday that should be two nights at a hotel. Estimated total, including the $25 fee for gathering is $90. A little bit more expensive than E8, but should be a lot of VF.

Adam, Team hydra has no problem with one of the rooms at the Pan American hotel. If that's the cheapest. We are still in. Just to reconfirm for everyone.

First off, thank goes to the NYC players for working on everything for this event. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif There should be a group of players who will make it to I Love VF tourney from Ohio, which we are all excited about.

Speaking of myself, I am still indifinitive as my situation won't be clear until the last moment unfortunately. I will try my best making out to this event since this one is going to be a blast for sure.

To meet and hang out with the Japanese gamers, to play and hang out with all the people I met over the two years of playing vf, and to observe and take notes as well. Don't forget taking pics and going out to eat with my friends from nyc.

Okay, HOTEL UPDATE:

I've reserved a block of six double-bedded rooms at the Holiday Inn Express. The address is:

Please call hotel directly to guarantee (with credit card) your own rooms. The rooms are presently held on my credit card, but any rooms not picked up by you guys by Dec. 5th will be released! So, please try to grab those rooms ASAP. Availability in and around NYC is extremely limited & expensive!

The best rate i could get was $119 + tax per night. With tax, the rate comes out to $137.21 per room, per night. So, with 4 people per room, the cost is about $34.30 per person, per night.

I will keep trying to get better rates, but this hotel is closest to the city, it has among the cheapest rates, and most importantly, will do its best to honor our request of 2 beds per room. (Even though the Pan American Hotel is cheaper, they cannot guarantee 2 bedded rooms at the low rate of $104 per night).

I want everyone to be in one hotel for obvious reasons. Also, it not only is minutes from Manhattan (facilitating sightseeing and dining), but the Japanese players will be staying at Kazu's place which is a very short train ride away from the above hotel (facilitating ass rapings). But if the above rates pose a problem, and you can find cheap rates elsewhere, please let me know.

I am still trying to get a place for Saturday's team battle tourney/deathmatches/kumite. Will let ya know as soon as i get something.

We may be able to find room with Team Ohio but it'd be cramped as hell prolly.

 

I'm going if money permits, but I need 2 more roommates (or more, if possible); since I'm only bringing one other person with me. And, I'd be happy to share a room with a fellow Wolf player /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif
