GVN Winter Brawl 4 - Philly, PA - Feb 27

This is an important poll guys. Eric and I are doing the math and there aren't enough people ATM to warrant GVN being 2 days. But we are going to le you guys decide. Give us your honest opinion.

 

Eric and I have decided 1 day atm unless we get more than expected numbers.

 

Anybody down for a Battle Fantasia side tournament alongside my 2nd Gag tournament, Rise of the Robots? $2 entry fee.

 

I haven't played BF in months, and I never played it against someone else. It would be cool to see.

 

Unfortunately we aren't going to have the discounted rooms for WInter Brawl. We WILL have them for summer jam though.

It's really sad really how unpopular VF is. Can't even get 4 people.

 

it's sad because we make it sad. everyone just talks VF these past few years, but no one plays VF. We get months and months of notice for people to at the very least sign up and show some interest. So much time is given for individuals to plan how they will even get to the invent. But as the days narrow down all we get is broken promises of how people can't show up, etc.

unless we get 16 people or more I'm dropping out. It's not even about money, because no VF tournament ever pays out enough to ever cover the winner's expenses to get to the tourney in the first place (the exception being WCG), but honestly I'm just tired of going to small get togethers and not a tournament. Really it's not worth it to me to travel in what could be a super cold weekend with tons of snow and umbrella breaking winds to play with 6 people. If you guys want to just have a get together then by all means come visit me at my place. Free to play and if I'm in a good mood maybe I'll even supply alcoholic beverages.

Yknow that sounds like a plan.

Theres no way you'll get 16 people to show. That's like all of the North American Vf scene that still plays on a regular basis. I personally think that VFonline has weakened your scene a bit, not because of bad frame practices, but because people can play (granted I may wait for 2 hours) at home and selectively enjoy victories without having to deal with the likes of the hardcore.

In the cade' days if you wanted to play the game and win, you HAD to deal with the hardcore or become hardcore yourself. Nowadays we can play dressup and play like Bdouble until we're blue in he face.

Well I stand corrected. There are more than 16 people. Let me go for a bigger number....like 25. My sarcasm is due to the fact that there NEVER looks like theres going to be much of a VF tournament ever. Was there ever a sizeable US offline tourney?

You should come live in Scotland.

There are six of us. You guys have it better than most outside of Japan.

Polarbear you seemed very hyped to be part of a tournament in this game. If only the rest of the VF scene were as determined as you are. How long have you been playing this game?

 

Considering the Scotland is smaller than South Carolina that's not that bad.
