The Total War games and what Sega did to them (rushing CA)- was what put the boycott into place. Medieval 2 was a disasterpiece, and I hear Empire was worse.

I think a 500-pg boycott would be laughed at, since let's face it, console gamers have shown a history of being a weak lot when it comes to willpower.

 

Executioner's Song was what made him(Claremont) a household name imo. Great story telling especially in those days when it was more about the artist and all that.

Before that Xmen was so unpopular it actually got cancelled . Claremont rebooted it with Giant Size Xmen #1, with the international crew Storm Nightcrawler, and the rest is history. There was no comic run as close to comic Nirvanna as the Claremont / John Byrne run. And even after Byrne split, Claremont still kicked ass with Paul Smith and Romita Jr.
Most of the stories from the Xmen movies and TV shows were TAKEN from Claremont 's work. You know, those little endeavors that made HUNDREDS of MILLIONS. WTF are YOU talking about.

That said, chill winston. dude attributed an arc (and relevance) to Claremont that wasn't due. wah wah. your angry is showing.

also, Whedon's Astonishing run was class from beginning to end. Plot, pacing, script. it ran roughshod over any other title at the time. Whedon isn't a god amongst men or anything but that run was stellar and I wish more comic writers would sit, read, and take notes.
