UK Ranking League and Team Battle Tourney Aftermath

Oh my days, what a weekend!!! I've just about landed back on my feet after being swept off of them last weekend.

We had a great turnout for the tournament and I will post properly later or as soon as I can but the highlight for me was the 2nd team battle tournament yesterday.

It was the finals and the teams were:

The Criminals:

Cris (Sarah)
Stalwart Samurai: (Sarah)
Yamato (Jacky/Aoi)
Ryan H (Kage)

VS

The Fellowship:

Gee Ho (Pai)
Jason (Shun)
Vosor (Vanessa)
Columbo Jacky (Jacky)

It appears the joystick on the 1p side was not as good as the one on the 2p side. So we agreed to have one match on both sides to see what the results were.

Team 'The Fellowship' won the 1st match 4-3 with Columbo Jacky beating Ryan H.

The teams swapped sides and then...

Team 'The Criminals' won the 2nd match 4-3 with Ryan H beating Columbo Jacky.

Then...we decided to have a coin toss for the sides and then have 1 grand final match.

Ryan called tails and tails it was. Ryan then asked his team mates what side they should have.

Yamato said they should take the worse side, so they did. Then Yamato went first for Team Criminals and defeated the WHOLE TEAM SINGLE HANDED ON THE CRAPPY STICK BY HIMSELF!!!!!!

Team Criminals were the undisputed winners.

The tourney seemed cool. Seemed as in I could only make the SUnday, so missed out on this one /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif Still, was good to scout out the competition!!! Some great matches. Anyway will be up for the next meet and getting in some serious training for it!!

Ryan, respect for the organisation. At last some purpose to hours of playing VF4 Evo.

Sounds like the team battle was wicked!!!

what a rush! i must say that before this weekend i was getting a bit cold on VF.. but the RB and the team tourney has re-ignited my determination!

thanks to Ryan for hosting such a complex event and doing an excellent job of it (you must be almost dead from all that organisation) and thanks to everyone for being so friendly and positive.. i swear that the VF community is one of the best there is!

and the team battle was awesome.. some of the matches were so close! and that Aoi was sick! so many mixups.. brilliant, brilliant stuff. i look forward to the next one with great enthusiasm /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah that last team battle was ruff!! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif The way those guys got took out was crazy (and that team was good! (G-ho, jason ,Colombo , Vosor),
I guess stamina played a part in it as well,
I'd like to challenge Yamato's Aoi some time looked good! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Okay here's my quick round up of the tourni/s (from what I can remember so far):

Kudos to Ryan for the organisation of the 3 events!! and the filming!! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif , Once again I offer my services if anyone wants to see some of the matches on the net /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good to see all the new players to the VF scene, stick at it guys! Some nice new Sarah players there.

Solid performances by all people even though the sticks wern't the best,

Kid kage /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif: He caused some upsets and shattered some ego's over them two days!!! Pretty dam good for a 12 year old! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

G-ho's early peformance on Sunday: That was a real Turbo Pai peformance, tooks out some top players all in a row, quick speed, reversals,evading, setups /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif , we won't talk about the end of the win streak loss to Kid Kage /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Columbo Jacky's Matchup's: Every one of these were entertaining, the 5 rounders against Stalwart, Ryan, G-ho, Vosor and Myself I think were real Heart attack makers /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Have to give a mention to Onny's entertainig Brad 5 rounder matches nice mid Kick reversalls /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif Have to respect someone who deliberatly chooses Brad! /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

1st Team Battle where our team got to the final (G-ho, Colombo, Jeffhahn, Me) coserved our three lives (Players) to take out the other teams last player Ryan /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif but then sold it! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Uramachi Dojo teammates:

Saur bringing a small taster of Akiranomics to people but limited by the stick,

Akairyu showing some nice Lei fei skills

Aleady mentioned Stalwart's annoying Sarah (Bitch!)

Hopefully Knee will be down for the next event.

I have so much gratitude for honourable Ryan for organising the incredible two-day tourney; this one was the best and most entertaining events along with Ulysses' event.

The format was soooooo good it left everybody with that uki uki waki waki feeling.

Big up to everyone who turned up cos it wouldn’t have happened without you guys.

I feel sorry for ppl whom didn’t turn up /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif, cos you missed out /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gifon a tournament that so live up to the hype and exceeded ppls expectations.

yo, just sayin i had a tremendous wake up call on the weekend, and a good time too! Sorry i couldnt make the sunday, i had an esseay due for last week and, well priorties priorties....

Thanks to all the guys i played (especially stalwart) and a big thank you to ryan! most of all, respect to Vo (the other vanessa playa) he showed me the light that aoi didnt have nothing on vanessa! Vanessa = GOLD!

Will definitly be there for the next tourney! is this gonna be like some monthly thang?

damn it. i had some fun on saturday tho, i can only comment on that i'm afraid (and i was also wanted to see the returned yamato in action /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

highlights - high P ~ low throwing arch ^_____^
lowlights: getting bang up by every head, 3-0ed by mark, gerald & ryan was just horrid.

optimus: good all round, funny low throw on jason.
stalwart: best sarah there, blaytant. anii style - u are lucky u did'nt eat my P+K(charged)
gerald: sick vanessa, i did'nt last long
mark (columbo): i must have revenge ^___^, your jacky is just too smart.
bezerker: exellent play as usual, great matches
onny: sweet mid reversals, your brad is very solid
kidkage: .........rampage..............

ahh well, i wish i could have come, but sundays i just can't do, hopefully manz will be there for challenges during the weekends.

great tourney everyone and props to ryan for setting it up. seems like more and more people im coming to p[lay VF which is good for the game and the scene. Who knows maybe someday well have tourneys as big as the yanks maybe not the japs but big enough by UK standards.
props to gerald and kidkage for stopping me in my tracks especially kid kage who seems to have improved shyt loads. Overall everyone played great , especially stalwart and onnie. Just wait stalwart i get you back , got a nifty move that im sure will stop falmingo in its tracks i hope???

had some good matches, though i seem to be getting more and more inconsistent every week.

all i can say is, Stalwart Samurai (Worst of the first) i hand you my title of best sarah ,(Blaytant!/versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif) you were going on proper Milly, i saw BARE tings come out and couple 360 throws.

heh, what else...
oh yeah, i think Ryan is going a bit overboard on the propping of stove/yamoto although he did win the final by himself with Aoi on the rubbish(er) stick which doesnt ss up when you press up, only sses up when you press down. FIX IT.
props to the sarah team (cept for Stalwart who ditched us for ryans team, TRAIT0R!) i now realise, its not there for mass sarah teams,if one guy has anti S tactics,they become team killer!.

All the sticks on the vs city machines need replacing,ullysis said he is ordering all sanwas for the machines, dunno how long that will take though.

hopefully the table will get worked out soon, and the vids archived, I saw some non match jokes being filmed and randombitch shots when the samurai was operating it.

oh yeah i forgot, Justin got bare victories, and he even stopped gee ho when he was on his killing spree.(saying bare tings gee ho,props to you)

standard props to ryan for getting the freeplay and organising the mayhem.

props to the new faces, try and come to troc on Fridays and Saturdays when possible, theres always people to play against on those days.

Well what can I say... This is the first tournament of 2004 and I havn't had this much fun since the days of King of Fighters and Real Bout Special waaaaaay back in 97 coming on 99 in Namco Wonder Park (God I miss that place).

Many thanks and respect to Ryan for organising such a tournament. I am looking forward to Absolution and many other VF gatherings.

Seeing as I am relatively new to this VF community, many thanks to the players who fought over the weekend and providing me with a good work out.

Well that is pretty much what I want to say...

same here, i tryed for the F,F+P+K+G , but just get a silly non jab or jumangi crap!
anyways, it was bair joke, only downer was that no body say goodbye on the saturday!
would of been nice to of meet the new heads, an see if they wanted to go eat after!?

Damn, I'm so pissed that I missed the event. Stupid uni work. And I didn't even get as much done as I wanted to so I'm still under pressure /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Still, I did get to see The Last Samurai on Sat and I will most definitely attend the next one.

Thanks for the props guys. Actually I haven't played Aoi for ages and I was very surprised that I was able to defeat the whole of the opposing team in the final of the team tournament.

Now I have a real dilemna.... do I continue playing Jacky or do I go back to Aoi

I received a text saying that the opposing team lost cos they were looking at Aoi's legs LOL!

Optimus: I should be down at the weekend if you'd like to play some Aoi matchs.

Finally- changing my ring name to Neo and hopefully my name on this board too if the mod's will allow it.

Whilst talking to my cousin on the blower last nite I came up with a mad idea for a tournament:

Here it goes:

Ok

Everyone picks the same character tournament (regardless if you use them or not)

So there will be an Akira only tourney, Pai only tourney, Sarah only tourney etc.

The point of it is so that ppl will train up other characters in a week or two and learn or invent new tactics.
So that people can learn how to deal with other characters with their primary character and increase their knowledge more in VF, thus raising the level of play.

What do you’ll think?
