Do you still believe in VF5R for consoles?

Well I got an idea. Instead of trying to figure out whether or not we'll ever get this console release, let's figure out Sega's reasoning behind either decision. Why would they release FS on console? Why would they not? Maybe if we delve thoroughly into each side, we'll see some new light or something.

I mean it would seem like the only thing stopping them would be if it's not worth the money. But I can't imagine it would cost so much to port FS (to PS3 anyway) that they would not easily make back the money. I know VF isn't hugely popular, but how much could it possibly cost to port an already made game? This isn't going to be some $$$multi-million project. Isn't the arcade version of VF5 supposed to be based on similar hardware as the PS3 anyway?

Although another potential reason against it could be that Sega doesn't want to take away from the success of the arcade version in Japan. But I really don't get that reasoning. Even if everyone has a console version, they're still gonna be going to the arcades to play against other people, since that will always be preferable to online play.

Or maybe Sega wants to just wait until they are absolutely done with arcade FS (no more updates whatsoever) and then port the final version to at least PS3 right before they get to cracking on VF6.

Wow. I just lost A LOT of respect for Sega Of America...

Wait, Sega got your friend's FaceBook account banned just for posting something about FS?

Only the GPU's somewhat similar, but that's about it. Porting does cost millions to do, even with suitable middleware available.

I don't see a console port announcement coming for at least another 5.

The last time a company released a console port of a fighting game a few months after arcade release, they lost money on arcade revenue (Tekken 5).

There is also the fact that most people would rather play online than offline. Yeah, we are hardcore, and would rather do the opposite, but we are the minority. So they need to milk the arcades for what it's worth.

We've lost faith in Sega because VF5 has been out of a long time. However, we haven't realise just how long FS has been out.

That link you provided was to my forum thread I started on SEGA's site.
I am still in support. But I'm worried we are alone. Why can't this game come out on consoles, for God sake?!
