We’ve noticed that at least 150 of you have expressed your desire for this in just the last seven days, and many more have posted since the beginning of the month. This is an unprecedented level of support and posting, and we’re pleased to see so much interest in this title.

Our response to this was to ask as high up as possible what the plans are for the title. We spoke to various teams, including the Japanese office, and unfortunately we can feedback that there are no plans at the moment. We can understand that this isn’t the answer that the loyal fans of VF5:R want to hear, but it is not to say that your efforts haven’t been noted.

We’d like to say that all of your comments are extremely important to us. It’s a privilege to work for a company with such a loyal fan base, and we do our utmost to ensure community comments are always fed to the right channels throughout the company. It’s our job to see that this continues.

It's an unfortunate event, but I can't say I didn't see this happening.

At least this has provided closure for some people. I'll be playing Tekken 6 when it's out on console for the meantime.

Man I hope Blazblue and KOFXII are amazing on consoles....because I'm not touching Tekken 6.

I just got a message from a friend of mine who went to school and now has a job at SOJ. Apparently sega wants to hold for their LAST revision but we all don't wanna wait that long.

    Bitterness much?

As for myself, I'll still be playing VF5. I still know 2 people in my area who casually play VF. It's better than nothing. But it's now going to be my "chill" game, since I don't have an x360 to play you guys.

But it looks like my spare playing time is mostly going straight to T6BR. Namco did a fine job with BR, and it's the closest game to 5R right now with an actual scene.

If this is true, then it's just more amazing proof of the sheer incompetence at Sega.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HOLD OUT. JUST MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT YOU DEFINITELY WILL DO SO IN THE FUTURE.

Imagine, all they have to do is say "yes, 2011." And we will all wait. We will play VF5 till all our consoles bleed. But nope. No promises form Sega. 2010 will be the end of the current honeymoon period, and Sega will have missed out once again.

Wait. I'm reading that SEGA plans to release the last version of VF5 on console (even if it's say, VF5R cubed x 8! ver: d)? And to top it off, they're getting a vibe that fans won't wait that long for a console version so SEGA's just not gonna do it? Is that what you mean?

EDIT: Cozby sez he couldn't not be lying...

Plague: Cozby - did you crash your head into the ground?
Plague: WTF with that post about SOJ
Plague: and WAITING until the last VF5

    Cozby: well

    This is bullshit.

Why would they release a game that can't be patched for consoles again? Did they forget about the colossal mistake that is VF5 on the PS3? Why not release 5R version B now...and let it be patched later for consoles.

I download patches for Starcraft, new episodes for Half-Life 2, new DLC for Fallout 3, new costumes for SFIV....I downloaded new content for Valkyria Chronicles for fuck's sake...why didn't Sega hold the game until the DLC was complete with that logic? *head explodes*

Sega is full of shit. Waiting until the last revision is NOT holding this game back at all. They could release a version that could be patched but they refuse to because Sega of Japan sucks. This is the same company that lied about VF5 not being able to function online. MS set those morons straight and I wish MS would have led the charge for 5R but that's way wishful thinking.

If this is true or false Sega is still destroying the VF community with its stupidity.

VF5 vanilla > T6BR. No point in playing an even more inferior game because we don't get 5R. I'm playing other fighting games I'll play BB, KOFXII, or ST.

Actually, I have heard the same thing through other channels.

Apparently a Final Tuned version is coming out, and that might be ported to console. So basically, the opposite scenario of what happened with VF4 (we got vanilla/Evo, missed FT) will happen here with VF5 (we get vanilla, FT, miss Evo/R)

No Plans for 5R does not necessarily mean no new console version. B careful of the question you ask.

For all we know either a Final Tuned version or V6 will be coming in 2010 (which is not that far off btw)

and the fact that only 150 posts went to FB (I did post btw)
is sad we should have had 150,000 or 1,500,000 posts. 150 is not even close at a bear minimum we should've got at least
10,000 people to post. Doesn't VFDC have at least 10,000 members?

That is very sad indeed, I never looked at the large scale like that.
Ergh, I hate this approach SEGA has taken.
It's almost as if they are throwing out any old answer just to shut us up.
And, I don't know about anyone else, but this has given me no closure whatsoever, and, to be perfectly honest, it's just made me more antsy.
I would've had more closure if SEGA had come right out and said, straight up, 'No, there will be no console release for VF5R.' Because then, we would have a definite answer, not the bullshit we have been fed, and are expected to swallow.
Damn it, this REALLY pisses me off.
I say we hit them hard.

So what is this last version? C'mon annouce it! Make it console release this time! We can wait for the game, but we can't fucking get hyped about it if you don't fucking annouce it. Hog.

Not everyone has Facebook, and they're only counting a couple of days. The number was growing daily. They had to say something to calm people down, and bring back the page to normal. And first, SEGA would never announce VF5R on Facebook. TGS is were is AT!

all this doom talk.....jesus H christ!!!

use some logic people, this game WILL be released when the final version is out....it makes absolutely no fuckign sence to release a version that will be phased out soon, and you KNOW we gonna whine again cause OMG new version! please release it! (and here we go again!). sega is avoiding this, and I know the wait is killing us but it is the best course of action. the only thing that sega is fuckign up BIG TIME is the lack of hope! for fucks sake, at least lie and say it will be released SOMEDAY and keep us happy and if it doesnt work out, tell us "sorry it was canceled". not saying shit (implying its never gonna release) is worse that a little white lie, cause it gives the competition new players.

quitting VF? is it because of the lure of a new game that we cant play? let me ask you this, if there was no VF5R and we were playing the same version japan is playing (xbox VF5) would you still be playing? is there a time limit on our enjoyment?

tired of VF5? you can make it fresh by doing a very simple thing. LEARN A NEW CHARACTER!! trust me, it will feel like a whole new game, imagine never before seen strats! see your knowledge grow!. have you really got tired of VF5? i dont think so, the fact is that japan is taunting us with soo much cool shit we see from VF5R (new whore in town, everyone wants to fuck her) that our old game (one that we would still be playing if VF5R didn't exist btw!) just doesnt look hot anymore.

and more questions, do you think TK6, new soulcalibur game, new KOF and the rest of the fighting games is a better game than VF5? sure they get a shit lot of better support from their companies but what about the gameplay? is it that much better to make you "quit" VF? just cause we aint getting VF5R -NOW-?

from what i understand from previous posts, it seems VF is NOT a game to play casually, the rule seems to be "serious play or no play at all". people would rather play OTHER games that they consider lesser than VF casually instead of VF, im not seeing the logic in that.

just play the game people, I dunno about you but at the end of the day, VF is the fighting game I come back to, the other fighting games, while hella fun as well will always be my secondary fighting games.

    /rant off

Yeah there's a little to much worrying going on. Be calm and face the facts. Sega does most of it's business for the Japanese market, and Virtua Fighter 5 is insanely popular in Japan. With those two facts alone its easy to conclude VF5R will come to consoles, at least Japanese ones. So I really dont see the need to panic that it wasnt at E3.
