I'm only level 2, forgot I even had a GS account. If someone does please ask them why they refuse to compete with Tekken and Streetfighter by not releasing 5R in the west.

Because they would lose that competition? Lets not kid ourselves I don't think it could beat either of those games in sales, especially with Sega's crappy marketing sales and what-not.

We'll never see vf5r because console VF5 was a bomb and sega doesn't have the money to take risks right now. The few hundred of us that would buy vf5r for console isnt enough to make the game profitable for sega so I am 99.999999999% sure that you will not see any type of R for consoles EVER. Suck it up and enjoy VF5 for the time being. Its a great game.

R is almost two years old. With the time line of arcade to console ports being generally six months to a year, I think its safe to say we're just gonna have to wait for the next one.

2 years can be a period for VF's game life.
Maybe SEGA is on the process for the next arcade version, and maybe that's why we don't have R on console.

I was so happy that PS3 announced VF5 just about 6 month after aracde released, and on that moment I totally believed the following pattern would be the same cuz VF aracde is prohibited out side out Japan.

    Sega always surprises me, always!!!

    Whatever version comes out

Sega needs to hire L A and Rodnutz for marketing and Plague for Tourneys.

I think any 4th grader knows more about marketing than the people at sega and Rod and I are pretty bitter old men after all this. Thanks for the faith tho, Brian. [IMG]

VF5 wasn't a bomb at all. On the PS3 it sold enough copies to be credited with moving PS3 systems off the shelf the first week the game came out. And if you add the X-Box 360 sales together you have slightly over 800K copies sold. Not to mention, VF5 PS3 came out when the console base was smaller, and the game had zero online functionality, recycled Quest A.I., and no tutorial mode. Even with VF5's lazy PS3 port it still sold fine.

VF5 is still (barely) within the top 100 highest selling PS3 games internationally. Though I'm sure GoWIII, FFXIII, and a few other AAA titles will likely knock it off the list next year.

If you factor in that the cost of porting the game couldn't have been that much because they reused the Quest A.I. from VF4:EVO, and had no online nor tutorial modes, then they probably turned a solid profit. Sure it's not Metal Gear Solid money but it's still a profit.

Dead Space: Extraction for the Wii sold less than 10K copies despite its PS3/360/PC counterpart selling almost 2 million copies. That is a total bomb. The expectations for DS:E were in the low six figures at the very worst....and it probably won't clear 15K total copies across its entire lifespan at retail.

And even Tekken 6 has just reached a million copies sold...and the game sold so poorly that most retailers slashed the price of the game and the LE bundle (Amazon was practically giving them away). And this is at a time when the console user base is much higher, the game was promoted heavily for years, was launched simultaneously on both consoles, and had functioning online modes.

Tekken 6 shipped 2.5 million copies to retailers and was barely able to push 1 million units off of the shelves even with the insane price slashing that came later. Amazon had the LE bundles going for $100 with free shipping at one point. Tons of retailers were selling the game for $40 only a week after it came out.

Now did Namco turn a profit? Sure, even though sales didn't meet expectations. Was it a bomb? Not really, a million in sales is still strong, and the game is a money maker at the arcade still. Disappointing? Certainly.

Still though, there are around 1.5 million copies of Tekken 6 sitting on shelves, that will probably never be sold. Pretty embarrassing for Namco. Capcom has Super SFIV sales estimated for 1 million copies internationally so in a couple of months we'll get to see how close those projected figures come to reality.

So sure, VF5 didn't exactly light up the sale charts, or blow any records away, but it was hardly a disaster or a bomb. Could it have done better? Of course. But it could have done much, much worse.

And finally, the last time I talked to someone from Sega of Japan (three months ago or so), he said that VF5R would not get a console release. And he implied that that was Sega of Japan's final decision. Meaning there is zero chance of seeing the game ever. And this is the same guy who told me about VF4:FT's PS2 and PSP ports getting canceled so I have zero hope for VF5R at this point. He said he didn't even think VF5R was getting an international arcade release if anyone here cares.

And those rumors of VF vs Tekken? I've heard nothing new in weeks. Hopefully Sega didn't shoot the idea down (again).

VF5 for PS3 barely broke 500k copies total (50k in the first week). Yes it moved some PS3 units but nothing to brag about. Xbox sold about 70k pieces total. For a game of VFs calibur those numbers are embarrassing. To get a little perspective, bayonetta sold over 93k units in the first DAY, not week and that doesnt have the name VF has. Tekken 6 sold 73k in the first day.

The VSHG was the only thing that was hard to find for a while and thats because of segas blunder recalling more than 80% of the defective ones.

VF5 top 100 PS3 games? TBH I dont even think the ps3 has 30 good games.

    * nods head with approval * It may end up being the better system in the long run, but ever since VF5 dropped on Xbox360 the PS3 has only been a BluRay player to me. But like EmpNova said above I'm sure games like FFXIII and GOWIII will change things to come.

Multiple platform makes PS3 has no advantage for being a game system. The best value is a BD player.

If VF5 really broke 800k Sega would not hesitate to release a port of VF5R.

In the US the life time numbers are around 150k ps3 and 70k 360. Jpn dunno add another 100k. Europe ? Lol add another 50k.. Not even breaking 500k.

Weiand is right man, why do you think I'm back in VF with hardcore dedication to step up my game? I'm even seriously learning a new character, that's unheard of! [IMG]

Not that I quit Tekken 100% but I got bored and went back to VF because I can't handle the scrubs online in Tekken, at least in VF it's dead but usually the good people (VFDC people) are on.
