I can count the amount of times any game-related "boycott to get what we want" attempt has worked on no hand.

NOT buying other games is a sure fire way to make sure VF5R NEVER gets released. Video game companies are like music labels. If they sell lots of copies, then they can afford to sign new acts and take a chance on releasing their CD. If the label is going under cause no one supports them, fat chance of them releasing anything "risky" that isn't got bring in whopping amounts of cash.

we need to try and get other ppl who might be fans of this series to help out that may not be "regulars" on this board. Anyone try to post on srk or the other fighting game sites to get us support in our "campaign" on facebook, twitter, etc.

its obvious that sega hears us but it needs to be OVERWHELMING and especially---UNRELENTING.

You know how make them listen? You run up in there masked and duct taping with the fo-fo and start demanding shit. Or if you want to face the minimun penalty just roundhouse 1 hostage every hour till demands are met.

    Segata Sanshiro will make his masters announce VF5R in an instant! <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Warning, Spoiler: <input type="button" class="form-button" value="Show" onclick="if (this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display != '') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = '';this.innerText = ''; this.value = 'Hide'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.innerText = ''; this.value = 'Show'; }" /></div><div class="ubbcode-body"><div style="display: none;">It's a shame he's dead</div></div></div>

Man if someone in this site was like one of the top powers in Sega or hell even the leader that would be awesome, we'd have VF5R version A. in consoles a while ago lol.

I’ve only been playing Virtua fighter (VF5) for about 14months, and what a great game it is. The first eight months were very difficult, but as I have improved I’m amazed by how much depth is hidden in the game. I wish I could go back and trade-in some of 25years of playing other lesser fighting games for an extra 12months of VF know how.

Like previous comments by others, I also think just getting VF5R released isn’t enough anymore. When it comes out on console, Am2 will likely release a new VF in the Japan arcades and we’ll be behind for another 2years again.

I think VF fans might need a new owner for Am2 to keep VF alive on consoles. Am2 are probably happy with the status quo; multi platform development for consoles eats up valuable time they could use on improving the arcade games the department was formed to develop. And because nether the Xbox360 or PS3 share a hardware architecture with the VF5 arcade units this is tedious work for creative people.

As a different solution, getting someone else to buy Am2, who would agree to continue development of new VF arcade cabinets for Sega-Sammy, and giving Sammy the exclusive distribution rights so they can still make money from VF and keep their arcades full might solve the release issues.

I was thinking a Japanese based company; Sony could be well placed to commercial exploit and expand the user base of the VF games. Sony has hardware such as the Sony Zego which would be well suited for an enhanced arcade cabinet, the PS3 and PSP for console releases and SCEJ could help with character development and game FMVs if there work with ICO, SOTC, and Last Guardian are anything to go by.
The architecture of Zego is the bigger brother of the PS3 hardware and so would allow Am2 to focus on Zego entirely and require little work to update newer PS3 revisions. The PSP version could also be developed from the VF4 Evo code from PS2, as they are relatively the same architecture. Due to screen size and texture memory limits of the PSP I would think cell shaded graphics for a PSP version of VF.

I guess it’s maybe unlikely Sony has the money or desire to do this, but if anyone from Sony reads this forum they might agree that it could make money for some small effort on their behalf. It would also give everyone here a buzz knowing that VF was owned by a company who would definitely make it for consoles. So either Microsoft/Sony would be equally well suited to buy Am2.

He played the japanese voice for Ryu Hazuki though!!

I think he's just in hiding until he can safely come out again and ambush kids in the street and snap their necks, fight zombies on a ship, beat an olympic ice skater on ice with the simple art of running.

He'll be back, and when he does return i'll shed tears of joy.

Oh, best way to get SEGA to release it is to continue building hype over the game, i've noticed that the quest to get VF5R is looking more like the quest to get Firefly made into a movie and series.

SEGA will most likely be smart about this, wait until outrage is at its maximum and when people are banging down SoA, SoJ SoE's doors to get it released and media outlets become aware!! SEGA will release it and make a killing (somehow)

Sicilian, there's a problem with your idea. AM2 doesn't handle the console ports. In fact, they were busy working on VF5R while another division was handling the port for PS3 and then 360. There's another department in SEGA, outside of AM2 who does just that. So it's not like they have to halt Arcade development while working on a port.

Kinda sounds like the business-oriented/political version of Die Hard: The Arcade Game...

Lets take our Dreamcasts to SOJ headquarters and demand our money back for prematurely aborting the system, then tell them we'll accept PS3 VF5R as compensation. If they don't budge we'll
threaten to come back with Sega CD's and 32X's.

Is there even a Sega Forum for Virtua Fighter anymore?

I went to the Sega site today, did not see a VF forum or a real VF web site like they used to have. There was a little Xbox product page, but I didn't find a site dedicated to their VF
    product W.T.F? [IMG]

Did they close the VF Forum and the main VF Site [IMG]

After going to the Sega site today not only does it not look like we're getting 5R anytime soon, It looks like Sega is getting out of the VF business on consoles altogether [IMG]

    Or.....

They've got the most F!@#-ed up marketing support for a product I've ever seen [IMG]

The only way to make them do anything is buying enough SEGA stock that they have to listen. Carl Icahn style. Can Tekken 6 success help show there is interest?
