Bad Games Thread

Subbers is the man. We have had a zillion close fights and I always have fun (except when he reverses my down attack and combos me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif ).

 

When I've played against his Lau IIRC, his movelist consists of.... PPPK and PPP7K. When he uses Sarah, his movelist is PP2K followed by 7K. Could be why.

 

I'll put myself here too. Had the worst night in a long time. Predictable and poor execution, plus I'm not as keen with a joystick as I thought I was. Oh well...

 

Keep using the stick. It is way better in the long run. Does take practice but I do think it's well worth it.

 

Yea man I went through the same thing. When I first got my stick I was like dam, i'm way better with the controller. But after a while I surpased my controller skillz by alot and now would never want to go back to using the controller. I guess it had to do alot with starting out playing this game with the analog, learning how to play with it and having the whole 1 button for /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and so on. So ya kinda gotta relearn to play the game(in my case anyways)but just keep at it man.

 

Yesterday when I was about to promote to 9th dan, the match I was playing against a Japanese Lau got what it looked like a random disconnection in the middle of the first round and my rank bar fell all the way to half. Like I'm not having enough problems with my defective technique to rank up, I also have the worse luck.

After that I ended up losing ALL of my subsequent matches, even to a 5th kyu. So instead I'm now facing demotion to 7th dan, great. When I had to mash my way out of losing against a 10th kyu Pai I knew it was time to turn it off and switch to playing PES 2008.

I feel for you Cadorna, same thing happened to me, I fell all the way down to 6th afterwards, then ranked up to master, now back down to 9th. (after losing master on a lousy skills day, i stubbornly fought masters till i was demoted agian, lol, such a mule)

I was dissappointed with PES 2008, i knew the online matches would be a wash, but the replays suck too. Winning Eleven 9 or something like that to PS2 is my favorite game of all times. Owns madden or any other sports game, i've put in 100s of hours into it, multiple hundreds. I think its still better than the newest Xbox 360 one, which made me sad after waiting 2-3 years for an upgrade in the series. (and please no one tell me about fifa, don't want to hear it.)

How can it be that a PS2 old version of the game is MUCH better online and offline than the latest one??? What were they thinking. I hate FIFA too but I've never been so close to crossing to the dark side as I am now. With the Euro Cup starting in almost no time I NEED a good football game to go along with it and PES 2008 is not it. Damned Konami...

 

Are you gonna take it back or keep it? I haven't taken mine back to gamestop yet, but i might be soon...which is so sad that i would do that to this franchise, but even sadder that it would do this to me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I agree with you though. I think his and other people's pulling has messed up my bar too. Why oh why doesn't SEGA give the puller a loss and appropriate loss of bar?

Maybe you want him "deported," but he already is in Mexico...

 

Yeah I only played a few matches with him and every round was really close, I feel kinda guilty for stealing his master rank haha.

Warning - long post about a sore loser coming up. Not because of his game per se, but his ridiculous attitude afterwards.

Had a bad player match session with kingpin619 tonight. He is the mother of sore losers. I met him in ranking matches with Lei-Fei and won the first and lost the second against his Akira - he then asked for a few "friendly" player matches. I took this as a chance to set up a private room and take him out back and duff him up a bit. He had Akira again and I had Wolf. I beat his Akira convincingly and he asked for a character change. He came back as Kage and me still Wolf (as one match wasn't enough for me).

I destroyed him completely. I tore him apart with all Wolf's moves in the right place, not spamming any tactic that worked on him, but doing as much variety as possible while constantly kicking his teeth in. I got in all Wolf's devastating combos, got hit throws 100 percent, max input Emerald Flowsian etc, meanwhile, when I wasn't dishing damage, I was a stone wall that he couldn't get past and the ONLY rounds he managed to win were when I forgot to throw escape his TFT over the small wall (what an ass am I, I should have been more aware that this was his only chance of winning and mashed /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif like a madman). After about 12 matches he won one match (sandwiching in my 2 long streaks) and the one he won was with 2 TFTosses over the wall for his 2 of 3 rounds. Fair enough you may think "so what? He's just a shit player" but he seems to play an OK game and he's a Master rank (for what it's worth). After I sent a "GG play again soon" message he came back with - "Wolf is too cheap, get some real skills then give me a shout." I nearly fell off my chair.

How dare he call me cheap just because he can't deal with a good Wolf player? After all, even if you listen to tiers Kage is by far the cheaper character. I took the high road and even though I thought he was a player with loads of holes in his game, and that I knew he only got a few lucky rounds off of me, I would have never sent a message saying so. Obviously I let him have it after I received his bitching message.

I would say his skill level is the kind that beats almost every player but when he comes up against someone who understands the game he falls apart. His whirling dervish aggression will be all over most people on LIVE (hence the Master rank) but his advanced tactics are pathetic. He only managed one throw escape (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif after crumple combo, one time) even though (being Wolf) I threw him countless times. He is nowhere near the level of a VFDC member but he obviously believes he is one of the best players around.

kingpin619 is not the worst player by any means, but the fact that he only won about 6 rounds and about 4 of them after TFTing me over the low wall) and then had the audacity to call me a cheap player is enough for me to advise other members of VFDC to beware of this sore loser.

Sorry for the long rant but just saying "kingpin619 is a sore loser doesn't do justice to how much of a punk bitch he is."

 

A Kage player calling anyone cheap is just a fucking JOKE! Kage is by far and away (and away and away...) the cheapest character in the game. Most Kage players just back dash and hit and run with Kage's crazy-ass moves.

 

I agree to some extent but all characters have the feeling of being supremely cheesy when played right (and sometimes spectacularly wrong - like C1REX Jeffry /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif ). That's the beauty of VF's balance, I think.

I find it funny that he had no problem with my Lei-Fei just because he won one against him beforehand....

That could sound like I shot my own argument in the foot a bit by saying all characters are capable of being cheesy but there was nothing noticeably cheesy at all about my performance - aside from the damage levels of some of Wolf's throws and combos (which I didn't over-do one bit), the reason I won was the fact I did everything at the right time. I would have slaughtered him no matter which character I was playing. It was Wolf played well and he folded like paper. Who's fault was that?

 

I've played kingpin619's Akira quite a lot, he's definitely cheap. I only remember him doing elbow spam and low punch like crazy. It doesn't get him wins so I can't see why he does it, maybe he just panics lol.

I don't understand why he called you cheap at all, i'd say you were a moral player.

 

Yeah thanks Beligerent. I always thought of my bro as a moralist player. That's what he was talking about way back when, on this forum when he imparted that he uses all 17 characters and tries to use all of their moves in proper places. He'd never even dream of spamming a pattern or sequence. I play it in exactly the same way (all characters and try and use each move for its intended purpose with loads of variety) except for one thing - I pretty much suck (at actually winning matches)! I watch my bro on VF all the time but am nowhere near Lemmy's level.
