Akira noob Questions

    Some other questions.

    - Which is the best thing to do after I hit someone with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif? i usually do a throw, but if the opponement remains crouched i whiff. Which fast mid could i use? DE?

    - I have ENORMOUS problems against Lei Fei and all his mid moves, which hit me when i crouch and repels me very far when i parry. ASome good strategy to use against this character?

    - which is the most damaging move or combo to do in counter hit when i'm coruching under a high move such as Vanessa jumping kick?

    - last: which is the best thing to do Vs a downed opponement who is rising doing the low kick? I usually jump over it with a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and then stomp him with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif if i have the chance, but i'm sure that there should be more damaging options available.

    you should always mix up between /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u_.gif. If you hit the full thing you can just mix up your options Throwing isnt the only set thing you can do after it. Sometimes i do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and just use those to mix up with grab afterward

    If the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif hits on counterhit, you have Knee/throw guessing game against everybody but Eileen/Sarah/Pai who can highpunch away from it. If you have trouble with Knee, you can use SDE. SDE or DE are also good options on normal hit and if you are unsure about the hit. Another /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif can also work. Or f+P mixups.

    Depends a lot on the player.. Against good Lei player theres really no advice. Against a scrub one, Its about gaining initiative with low punch or evade and then doing a quick DE for more advantage and then going for a launcher.. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif
    can help to sabaki high and low punches, and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will go under his high punches. If he is in low stance that feels difficult to hit, do sidekick, SDE or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

    If he charges up for the "flying chinaman" Arrow punch, learn to evade it and punish.

    If he does a sweep and you block it, you can float with a knee or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif usually.

    Depends on high move, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif works after crouching under Vanessas jumping crescent blockbreaker although I use knee. at least in OFFLINE. You can also try SPoD.

    Jump kick and DLC would be one... you can also backdash away from range and do a suitable midhitting attack. (Edit: on second thought..jumping over and doing a backturned SPoD would be cool, although Ive never tried that yet..)

    Actually the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif Is bit weak framewise. Akira retains initiative if the shoulder hits, but if it is blocked then Akira can be thrown out of the evade. Personally I dont use the evade that much because Akira gets better advantage out of the normal followup, basically.

    Just so I don't run into more confused Akiras. If you do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif against Jacky, and Jacky blocks the first hit, it is possible for him to do his neutral stance /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif counter. Poor Akira I played the other day thought he kept messing up because he got countered when he would try for it.

    I would imagine the same can be done with Vanessa while she is in deffensive stance.

    If you are trying to do a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, make sure you don't do a 1frame kill (wasted a frame) from the triple forward motion. This means buffer triple forward really fast before /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif ends.

    You mean single jump kick? or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and DLC before he hits the ground? is it possible? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

    Jumping over and doing a SpOD is the coolest thing in the world, but would come out only once every 20 tries, so is not too reliable for me. I need a lot more practice

    Hi, couple of noob questions here.

    First, I've noticed in some vids that you can "force" the wakeup of the opponent from the ground. Some cases I've seen with Akira involve his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif , and his KNEE. But, just when do you have to hit them with these moves, just as soon as the opponent touches the ground??? Is it possible for the them to tech roll??? And... are there any other moves that can be used for this purpose???

    What the hell happened at 1:30, how do you perform that evading jump, and, are there more of these "rare" moves???

    I'm sorry for the lots of questions but any help is appreciated. Thx in advance.

    It is possible to tech while on the ground in that situation you mentioned with the knee. Most characters have moves similar to how that knee works with characters that are landing on the ground. Akira's regular knee (the non-1frame one) does it, you just arn't able to continue it for as long because of its recovery and hit property (my non-formal description of it lol.)

    The evading jump is actually the break for Jacky's side throw. Looks cool though huh? lol.

    No need to apologize. These arn't the standard questions that I've seen answered time and time again.

    Can someone please put together a noob Akira "primer" as it were?

    I want to know some common pressure strings, mix-ups, his best attack to beat crouching opps, etc...


    I always wanted to play Akira, but never had the reflexes for it.

    Sorry I meant /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. And it should be possible but I will check proper combos tomorrow. In VF4E it was possible to do at least /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - DLC as a combo. The jumpkick is also very safe on block (-3) and hits mid. You are just risking being hit by mid rising attack.

    Go here and read "Akira in General" and "Akira Memorandum" by hiro. Hell, read all of the strategy related docs. Yes, they are for VF4, VF4:Evo, and Final Tuned, however, a lot of the information can be applied to VF5.

    Good stuff is in here for Akira. Other characters Ver. C stuff could be in the main dojo forums.

    Wow, that's cool. Never ever thought that i could combo out of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. That makes it a very big punishment for low kickers. I will test this out. As you said, the only disadbantage of this is that sometimes i eat a medium rising kick.

    You are describing Singlepalm, not doublepalm. Double palm is from crouch /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

If plague's works also that'd rock because that'd be easier to input
