The omission of customization options from Ver C probably has more to do with load times than anything.

It's still cool to hate on MS no matter what, for some people.

Woah woah woah. Omission of customization items? Clear that statement up for me ASAP, because I don't like the way it sounds.

Well according to this thread, you cannot mix 'n match shirts/pants from a/b/c/d like you could in the arcade of ver C.

But I haven't confirmed this myself, as I don't have the 360 version yet.

I dont know about arcade version but there hasnt been any omissions from ps3 version (ver.b) that I know of. Instead some new items.

I have the 360 version and no you cannot mix shirts/pants from a/b/c/d like the arcades.

There is of course the possibility that I've just been retarded and haven't noticed where the option is, but so far no-one has comfirm the contrary.

I'm disappointed at this omission, as some of the costumes would look much better with the shirt/pants from another. Still having a blast customising the characters though...I'm sad that way lol.

Just to make it clear I'm not hating on the 360 version, I'm just a tad disappointed at that ONE single thing. The game still freakin rocks, by far best version of VF I've played and IMO the character's have never looked better (in terms of their over-all design and look, not talking about graphics).

Oh that totally sucks. I was really hoping for the mix and match feature. I still plan on getting this game but am too a tad disapointed on this feature not being included. Oh well. Maybe a patch in the near future???

No you can't mix and match with all of them. I saw the strategy guide for the 360 version. On the items list it will tell you which outfits it will be applicable to. Most are for A/B/C/D. But there are some that are exclusive only to a certain outfit or to 2 or 3.
    i.e
    A/C
    B/C/D
    B/D
    Get it? Got it? Good!

Thanks for that clarification samtheseed. Remembered reading it before but that helps a lot.

So they nerfed the X360 version item wise? Or did you have free reign over every item for every costume in the ARC version?

    Weird.

yea, check out the xbox 360 strategy guide thread where i posted. I also noticed that the new items don't appear there. I believe that the extra items for version C are going to be available via XBLM as i read somewhere here before.
i.e That Akira bracelet that has the flames, doesn't appear on the item list for him

Maybe the guide is just garbage, lol? I do remember hearing about buying items with MS points instead of in game money, but I didn't think they would actually strip some items away. As long as the prices are reasonable and I can get everything on one MS card then I'm good. . .

The arcade versions' items are the same way. Essentially you can switch the pants around, but not much more than that. For example, if you want to wear Wolf's nifty Jackets, you HAVE to use costume D and change it how you like.

I think it's very much the same as the original version's system in that sense, but I don't know about the DLC or new items. I imagine the most popular ones already made it in. They'll probably add the DLC around the time the Japanese version comes out.

Yeah, but in the old guide, they didn't list the green and purple hair for Shun. Could you have even gotten that in the PS3 version? I've seen it in the ver B arcade but have no idea if it was in the PS3 version.

I really hope that the 360 version didn't get the shaft as far as items go..

You can get the purple hair in ps3 vf5 but not the green. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif
I have a feeling that even if its not in the game right now, the items will most likely sooner or later be available on XBLM. Seeing that they already have vf5 gamerpix, themes and other crap up there now, im sure they realize they'll be able to sell that stuff to us crack addicts as well.

They will most likely split up the items like how Sega did it with the arcade version updates. Each DLC update should come with about 10-20 new item pieces for all characters, and if anything I'm guessing the first download pack will come out once the Japanese version is released in December.(the JPN version will probably get that directly on the disc for free while NA and EUR players will have to pay for it)

Now,if it will cost separate MS points to get a single item for a single character that needs to be won through a random item battle or bought in the store, that will be a fucking rip off.

"Dragon Bracelet for Akira only 2500 MS Points!"

JKS, I could have sworn one time seeing that pic and it stating that that was the 360 version. Then again, this was when the game was in production around late August. That's the first picture that came to mind.

It's worth noting that a lot of the items you don't get don't show up in the item shop at all....

That won't happen, the entire point of the DLC is for the Japanese market.

Sega is trying to replicate the success Namco Bandai had with their Idolm@ster download content in Japan (ie people were spending hundreds of dollars, far past the base price of the game, on download content for it).

Are they still adding items to the arcade version, or is it more or less done? I checked hk-vf and it didnt look like anything had been added since mid-July, but I don't know how up-to-date the site is.

I ask because the aspect of DLC might be more appealing down the line, assuming it takes off in Japan, and they continue pumping new items into the game (would they do new items exclusive to the 360 version?). Sucks we don't get more off the standard disc, but assuming its priced fairly, this could turn out well.
