I'm also a RROD victim(Last week) I've traded most of my 360 games for the PS3 versions instead. Once I get my Elite back, I'm not dealing with third party stuff on the 360 ever again. Second time already, I'm done with M$. People shouldn't be supporting this bullshit. I don't know how the hell M$ is getting away selling a faulty ass product. They should be getting sued up the ass. No wonder they have close to 20mil worldwide, people are buying the arcade pack(When their system RRoD)and call it day. I see this happen all the time at Gamestop. This system should of had a recall. This Generation of gamers are strange, letting something like this slide.....Whatever, I got my PS3, so I'm good.

Congrats man, my 360 died about 2 weeks ago and I had it sent off as well. I can't wait to get mine back but the next time this happens I'm probably gonna jump over to the PS3.

My PS3 is getting alot of action as of late. I search the Web with it, Set my DJ gigs(Up sampling on the PS3 is CRAZY!)Watch my anime and movies, and of course, Game with it. I'm done with third party stuff on the 360. I'm only holding on to it because of VF5, REZ HD, Chessmaster LIVE, Lumunies LIVE, Pac Man C.E., Alien Homind and Ikuruga. I wish XBLA was available for the PC. I wouldn't have to deal with this faulty product. Oh well, good luck with your order.

Right around the time I joined VFDC my 360 broke. I didn't get the three red rings of death, though. The screen turned green on me and after a while it stopped giving video output. Microsoft is sending me a box to put it, and after I send it to them in the box it will take about three weeks for me to get it back. That's way too fucking long. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

ShinobiFist, they replace the heatsink with a thicker one? I hope that I get my console (Elite) back in a better condition than when I got it. I don't want this to happen to me again in another five months.

Oh, and nobody try that stupid towel trick. You're just going to end up melting components that you don't want to melt.

Well i've had my xbox for 6 months and it officially crapped out on me today. My screen started going green and flickering... MS sent me a ups label so I gotta send it in and hope it won't take too long. This system really is too nimble.

I've went through this process. My Xbox was dying. VF5 was one of the games that just would not play without freezing. And it burned me bad on my Quest mode. I would get up to like 7th Dan (I got there like 3 times) and the game would freeze as I was saving the game data. THis resulted in me being forced to turn off the system during the load screen and EVERYTIME it erased my game. I would have to start over and over. Then I couldn't play online games without it freezing. It was pretty disappointing.

My box would RROD but it would still play some games like NBA2k8 and sometimes COD4, but VF5 was a no go. Then I just got tired of it and sent it in to MS and now I'm back in business.

the second chipset is stil on shelves and the overwhelming majority of owners are using the '1st gen' setup that is prone to failure (10 or 15% failure rate i think, dont quote me tho)..

still, M$ is standing behind the product and as long as it isnt tampered with theyll replace/refurbish whatever 360 you send them.. ive had my 'new' one for a while now; no problems, no worries and no red lights.. still loud as f*** tho, dudnt bother me cause i pump the volume when i play..

welcome to the club.. owners should get a pin or a certificate when their xbox is returned, some kinda plaque or medal to acknowledge the suffering.. the sacrafice, the loss of gameing, the evil red rings of death are worth more than a month of XBL for sure.. ..

Love your GT and this thread is actually quite OK. No reason to close it. People just venting about 360s. Nice that it's not in 26 threads.

So I'm at home chillin', right. I figure why not spend some quality time with vf5, I haven't done so in quite some time, since I'm a full time college student. It's at the end of the school quarter and I'm finished with all of my projects. So I'm using my Conqueror (I think) level Pai, trying to build my record and beat all of the arcades...then

*Freeze*, a brief scratch sound is heard!

I initially thought, damn...the disc must be scratched again. So I ejected it and did the old t-shirt wipe action. Then, I turned it back on and...

"What are these circular red bars flashing with the upper left light not flashing?"

At that moment I recalled an old prophecy in the annals of microsoft video games:

"All is well in the beginning of the existence of Microsoft. But behold, for there will be a time where greed will overcome Microsoft. For they will not stop at just computers. They will try and force their hands into the world of video games. And after the release of their second console, a mark of the great blood ring will appear. This ring will not be connected fully, but it will be know as the the Ring. Yes, this ring will cause anger, frustration, disappointment, it will cause weeping and gnashing of teeth. Many will hate the day that the Ring will appear. Thus, it will be known as the Red Ring of Death."

So after recalling this message, I decided not to send it to Microsoft, but to try to fix it myself. So if you guys know any good websites,...

They fix it for free, can't see any reason to not send it to them.

I dont think they fix them for free anymore if your system is out of warranty. I know they used to back in the day but, I called them after my system ruined my first copy of VF5 (prior to being able to install games) and they said it would be 99.99 to have them look at/fix it and the only way they would replace a game is if it was published by Microsoft.

No, if you red ring they'll fix it.
