Shenmue 3 was never a kickstarter project to begin with. It was a Promotional tactic by Sony to see if the fans were still interested in the game being made. Sony is the financial kickstarter for Shenmue 3

And to be honest, there has not really been any successful kickstarter releases in recent years. ( mighty #9) In other words, kickstarter is unreliable.

Kickstarting an IP owned by Sega would require Sega's permission first, which they are unlikely to give lightly.
The best way to support Virtua fighter is play the games we already have. VF6 will be dead on arrival if we don't support the current games. It'll release and we'll be right back at the point of 'lol nobody plays this game'.
