The bottles Shun gets while fighting

Hello everybody,
i allways wanted to know: What is the meaning of the bottles that appears when Shun drinks during a fight? Can somebody tell me?

 

The more drinks you have, the stronger he gets (I believe it was a 3% damage boost for every 5 drinks on the counter). Plus at certain drink counts, he opens up new techniques. Check out his movelist here for more info:
