I've just got to know, is Sarah Bryant's fighting style Tae Kwon Do or not? I've read a lot of posts (particularly in the Virtua Fighter 5 R discussion) that people want a Tae Kwon Do fighter. So I was just wondering isn't Sarah Bryant's style Tae Kwon Do? A few years ago I was a practitioner of Tae Kwon Do and I have to say Sarah Bryant's fighting style sure looks like Tae Kwon Do to me.

What is it to you (and a million others who have asked this pointless question)?

She practices the same style that Lee from Tekken does... lol.

She can't be TKD because a lot her moves look practical.

It's like a mixture between Lee and Hwoarang.

Yeah, but both practice "martial art." /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Baek would be more accurate, partly because he isn't a little bitch character deserving to be removed from the series. Haha at the loss of the ability to say BOB.

All 3 of them are cool characters though, Baek, Hwoarang, and Lee. Tekken does have some pretty cool characters, can't deny. They should trade some of them to VF by this seasons trade cut-off date.

"Martial Arts" doesn't describe one particular style. Many fighting styles fall under "Martial Arts". "Martial Arts" is just one catagory of fighting styles. Karate falls under "Martial Arts" just as Tae Kwon Do does, just as Jeet Kune Do does and many other styles as well. Saying that someone uses "Martial Arts" is like saying Both Jacky Chan and Jet Li use "Chinese Martial Arts". Well DUH! Of course they use "Chinese Martial Arts", but that doesn't describe their individual styles. SEGA might as well just say that Lau, Pai, Eileen, and Lion use "Chinese Martial Arts".

As for Lee Chaolan from Tekken, his fighting style is a made up style that the game developers made up by combining various moves from Wushu, Jeet Kune Do, Tae Kwon Do and Karate.

Jeet Kune Do is just as open ended as "Martial Arts" though, and Sarah's fighting style was labeled as Jeet Kune Do up until VF4. Read that I think here, and on wikipedia.

I gotta ask though, seriously these summersaults I see from all these characters, Sarah, Jacky, Kage, Lee, Marshal Law, Forrest Law, Kasumi, Hayabusa, Ayane, Hayate etc.

What the hell fighting style is that specialized in?

Well a friend of mine does a style of Karate which is called JKA Karate (I'm not sure what the JKA stands for but I'll ask him next time I see him) and in his style they are tought a few backflip moves, believe it or not. Plus back in my Tae Kwon Do days we were actually tought a move that involved a handstand. How freaky is that?

Someone needs to switch on their sarcasm detector, or buy one (batteries not included).

As with several other threads, the conclusion reached (because there isn't an official answer): Savate, some TKD, some kind of boxing and grappling all mixed into one, therefore= "Jeet Kun Do"

I'm just curious to why people care about this trivial shit?

Who cares what martial art Sarah practices?

Same reason that people say they're drawing Vanessa with a headgear and end-up drawing a likeness of themselves (sans stache). That is why.

    Please lighten up.

It is true that there are other thread about this, though. I will lock this one. Please continue the discussion here.
