Project Century and Virtua Fighter 6 and Innovation....

RGG is an amazing studio. It that creates amazing stories and action games. The last 2 Judgement games were next level.

Yamada San say they want to take Virtua Fighter to the next level. In the interview he says the innovation needs to be more than just realistic graphics and movement this time.

I'm thinking the innovation is going to be RGG bringing the Virtua Fighter story to life with the J6 corporations, Dural, the whole genetic experiment thing. If anybody can breathe life into the Virtua fighter back story its RGG. They also have the ability to bring full fighting move sets into an action adventure game for the first time. Normally beat-em ups have full story lines. But RGG and the Virtua Fighter IP have the opportunity to merge a full fledged fighting game with an Action Adventure Game (This would be Innovative)

And then having the new Virtua Fighter Project as a complement to Project Century would be a stroke of genius. And if the two games were tied together in some way , for instance as new characters are added to the story in the adventure game, they eventually show up in the standalone fighting game. Or if characters learn new moves or undergo other changes in the action adventure game those changes show up in the fighting game. (Like Lau getting poisoned) and RGG could bring the leader board from online version of VF into the action adventure game. It would be innovative if there were two way integration between the Virtua Fighter Project and Project Century WOW

I think in a way this is what Shenmue would have evolved into. Yu Suzuki was ahead of his time


I think the "Go big or go home" statement that Yamada San made means they're going to do far more than just add a few more animations to Virtua Fighter. I'm thinking they're going to innovate the entire fighting game genre (Like they did with the original Virtua Fighter)

I'm betting they're gonna bring something to fighting games we've never seen before, and something that's never been done before. I'm betting that Project Century and the new Virtua Fighter Project are gonna dig deep and pull something completely new out.

Its a good chance we might see RGG bring J6, the genetic experiments, Dural, the World Fighting Tournament . ,(the whole Virtua Fighter backstory) to life and include the entire Virtua Fighter roster (Movesets Included) into Project Century. Its a good chance we might see the Virtua Fighter Project have direct tie-ins from Project Century.
