Jpn Match Videos on PS2 Disc?

Hi,

I remember hearing that some of the high level Japanese players have their characters emulated on the PS2 VF4. I know that you get to fight against these characters after earning high ranks in Kumite mode, but are there any ways of fighting against them otherwise? I also heard that there's a way to view them actually fighting (like watching a match video). Is this true or just some misuderstanding on my part?
