Black book combos?

Hi guys...

I am new to the Virtua Fighter series and I must say that it is amazing!!
After playing around a bit in the dojo in VF5 and checking out the command list, I wondered if the combos presented in the black book combo section in the wikia are combos which are not listed in the command list? Like additional "secret combos"?

The short answer is yes the Black Book combos are unlisted and not found in the command list training. Use that and the wiki strat pages and you will see the major difference from those and the Command List for each character.

 

A true combo (or simply a 'combo') refers to a string of attacks where the rest of the string is guaranteed to hit after the first attack (starter) hits.

Strings listed in command list arent necessarily true combos. There are lots where you can block the followups even after the first part of string hits.

However, some of them are true combos, and when a string listed in command list is a true combo, its sometimes referred to as 'natural combo'. This information however is not listed in the command lists.

When there are separate combolists such as the ones you can find from the site menu here, the combos listed in there are true combos (or at least theres a condition when they are). And there are literally tons of combos that are not listed in the command list.
